This afternoon I went to the Pudong New District by subway. After I got off, I walked on the Century Avenue Road from west to east. Suddenly I observed a huge sculpture far away and began to walk toward it.
When I got near this sculpture, I found it's shape looked like a huge sundial. As shown in the above photo, there was a long needle penetrating a big panel.
The sculpture was located in a big public park. Many people were flying kites around the sculpture. When I stood in front of it, I found a monument giving a brief explanation of this sculpture.
At the same time, a foreigner asked me with a smile:"Can you speak English?". I answered "Yes, of course". Then I tried to translate the Chinese characters on the monument to him. It was really a difficult business for me, as my vocabulary was not enough. Fortunately, he knew a few Chinese characters and I made myself clear with the help of body language. It was a interesting experience.

This afternoon I took the subway to the Pudong New District.
After I got off, I walked on the Century Avenue Road from west to east.
Suddenly, I noticed a huge sculpture in the distance and began to walk toward it.
When I got near this sculpture, I found it's shape looked like a huge sundial.
The sculpture stood in a big public park.
Many people were flying kites around the sculpture.
At the same time, a foreigner asked me with a smile, "Can you speak English?".
Two changes! Can you find both of them?
I answered, "Yes, of course".
It was really a difficult business for me, as my vocabulary was not good enough.
it's shape
I agree with the correction, but it'd be "its shape" without the apostrophe. "It's" = "it is".
When I stood in front of it, I found an inscription giving a brief explanation of this sculpture.
This might be what you mean. The original is okay, but it means that there was a separate monument, which is a big commemorative sculpture in itself, and that this monument had an inscription about the sculpture.
Then I tried to translate the Chinese characters on the monument for him.
It was very difficult business for me, as my vocabulary was not good enough.
You can use "really" instead of "very", but it's a bit slang-like, and I would avoid it in writing.
It was an interesting experience.
There's a monument in Chinese on Angel Island, near where I live. I was translating it once for some friends. That was quite a challenge, too!
