I had to do my friend's English homework for him.
"instead of him" makes sense too.
But "do it for him" is more natural I think.
Honestly, I don't have oblige to do English homework, however I want to keep our friendship and it is for my English skill.
Thanks Mayur. I should use the word 'obligation' instead of 'oblige.' I have made mistaken of using verb form.
I meant to use "I don't have to oblige to..."
I am staying awake late.
I had to do my friend's English homework instead of for him.
Honestly, I don't have obligate to do English homework, however I want to keep my friendship with him and it is for my English skill.
Anyway, I'll go to bed.
I am staying (awake/up/out) late.
Adding "awake" "up" or "out" makes this sentence sound a bit more natural and informative but saying "I am staying late." does make sense.
I had to do my friend's English homework instead for of him.
Honestly, I don't have obligate obligations to do his English homework. However, I want to keep our friendship and it is for helps my English skill.
Anyway, I'll go to bed (now/soon/later/when I'm done).
Adding something to the end makes this sentence more informative and less abrupt.
