「で」 → (場所 place）で ～する
do something in/at (a place)
「に」 → (場所 place）に いる・ある・置く
be in/at (a place), stay[stand, locate, live, etc.] in/at (a place)
* This cannot cover all possible cases, though.
I'll make sure to practice using で and に some more.
