I disagree with English education at elementary school.
These days young people cannot use Japanese correctly,
so we need to solve this problem.
Of courese it is important for the Japanese to grow the children who speak English well as an international, but I think it is more important to grow the children who speak Japanese well as the Japanese.
If we can solve the problem, correct Japanese will continue to next generation.

Right now I am working as an English teacher in two elementary schools. My Japanese is not very good so I can't tell if the children make mistakes in their Japanese. But I don't think that English education is the problem. I only see my fifth and sixth grade classes for one hour a week. I only see my first, second, third and fourth grade classes for five hours a semester. I don't think this is enough time to interfere with the students learning Japanese.

But I do agree with you that it is important for students to learn to speak Japanese properly. Good idea for a post! It's a very interesting topic.

Sorry, I didn't mean to say "five hours a semester" - I meant to say "five hours a year." Even less!
