I'm a Taiwanese and I'm almost 30 years old, In Taiwan, if you got 30, it means you must have some money in your bank account, a stable career, a nice car even if a house, if you can't achieve these goals that people will blame you and your family will shame on you because you aren't work hard enough to become a successful person.

Does it sounds crazy?
but it's reality lifestyle in Taiwan, people can't do what they want to do, if they care about others opinion!

A few weeks ago, I met a couple who from Australia, we have had a nice conversation during the time, and they knew I have been to Canada in order to chase my dream, but I paused my school due to some money problem, so, they encouraged me to apply a working holiday visa then I can try to complete my dream without money issue....

I really want to do it ( go to Australia) but I can't do it, because I'm 30, and I don't want to shame my family.........and the economic environment is tough now. I don't think I can get a nice job when I back to Taiwan at that time!!

Life is full of choice, but this time I'm confused...........sometimes I feel helpless.

I'm sorry to hear that you are going through a tough time in your life. I don't really know the family values people uphold in Taiwan, but people in America would tell you to follow your dreams. Don't let others hold you back, it's your life and enjoy it while you are still able to!
