水曜日にシンポジウムに行った。参加者を二十四人そう、見に行く人も多いだった。I went to the symposium on Wednesday. There were apparently 24 participants, and even more people who went there to have a look.
参加者達はひとつひとつ舞台で訳すとオリジナルを読んで、訳すについて事を発表した。
One by one, the participants presented their translation and the original, followed by their reflections on the translation process.
一人は日本語から訳した。
以下は 若山さん の 翻訳だ。若山さんの声はそんな素敵に朗々でも冬の嵐ような気配があった。
One person performed a translation from Japanese. This is Wakayama's translation. Her voice was amazingly resonant but with a tinge of sadness reminiscent of a wintry gust.

さつきのみぞれをとつてきた
あのきれいな松のえだだよ
おお お前はまるでとびつくやうに
そのみどりの葉にあつい頬をあてる
そんな植物性の青い針のなかに
はげしく頬を刺させることは
むさぼるやうにさへすることは
どんなにみんなをおどろかすことか
そんなにまでおまへは林へ行きたかったのだ
お前があんなにねつに燃やされ
汗や痛みでもだえてみるとき
わたくしは日のてるところで楽しくはたらいたり
他の人のことを考へながらぶらぶら林を歩いてみた
ああいい さつぱりした
まるで林のながさ来たよだ
鳥のように栗鼠のように
おまへは林をしたつてみた
どんなにわたくしがうらやましかつたらう
ああけふのうちにとほくへさらうとするいもうとよ
ほんたうにおまへはたつたひとりでいけるのか
わたくしにいつしよに行けとたのんでくれ
泣いてわたくしにさう言つてくれ
おまへの頬のけれども
なんといふけふの美しさよ
わたくしは緑のかやのうへにも
この新鮮なまつのえだをおかう

This sleet from a while ago I've brought it in
Tis a sprig from that pretty pine
Ah almost pouncing upon it You
Place burning cheeks against those green leaves
That you would. Amongst such vegetative verdant-new needles
Tumultuously pierce your cheek
Even as though you would devour them
How this would surprise everyone
So great had your yearning been to go to the forest
While you were being consumed by such fever
In the throes of sweat and pain
I world happily in a place where the sun shines
Thinking about other people as I walked non-chalently through the woods
Ah Lovely An refreshed
Most as though I've come to the forest
As the bird As the squirrel
You yearned for the forest
How you must have envied me
Ah sister , who prepares to depart to a faraway place before the day is done
Can you truly go lonely and alone?
Ask me Please To go with you
Please Weep and say those words to me
Your cheeks But
How glorious their beauty today
On top of the green thatch roof too I
Shall place this fresh bough of pine
Soon the droplets too shall fall
See
The brisk,pure
Scent of turpentine wafts also.
