Is it possible for people who meet on the Internet to fall in love with each other?
Even if they only chat and talk on Skype, not even meeting face to face.
By the way, I turned 25 today.
I don't feel like an adult yet.
Or, "I don't think of myself as an adult yet."
When I was around 20, I thought when I turned 25 I would be more like an adult. I thought I would be a nice adult lady. I feel like I just got old. But anyway, I will make an effort to be a grown up from now on.
"from now on" is a common saying. To be a "grown up" means to act like an adult.
I need to more experience to adult.
Is it possible for people who met on the Internet to become in love with eachother?
If they only chat and talk on Skype, and never meet face to face.
I don't think I'm nice adult yet^^.
When I was around 20, I thought that at age 25 I would become more mature. I want to become a mature woman, but I feel like I am just getting old. I will make the effort to become a mature woman, starting now.
I hope so^^;
Happy Birthday~! (^_^)
I'm only 21, but I already feel old! haha
Thank god my boyfriend will always be older than me XD (he's 28).
As far as your question, I do think its possible.
I met my boyfriend here, on Lang8.
We liked the content of each other's entries and sent messages to each other almost every day - sometimes even 3 or 4 times in the same day!
Later we talked on skype - first just typing, then speaking.
I thought his personality and his voice and his English were all really attractive (even though his English isn't perfect, but it's really cute to me)
Eventually we started to use webcam and we send a picture to each other every month.
Of course, every now and then I would feel worried that maybe he is a scammer or what.
But, soon it will have been a whole year and he's even sent a letter and gift to my family.
And I've done the same for his family.
And its not only me.
My Taiwanese "brother" met his girlfriend on Lang8.
After a year or so, he even went to France to visit her.
And I read about a Lang8 friend who wrote about meeting his wife on Lang8.
I think, if you go to a dating website, you probably wont find very good people..
But, Lang8 is not a dating website.
I came here to learn, not to date.
But, reading other people's journals... sending messages back and forth...
I think it is as close to meeting (except for something like skype) as you can get without actually buying something so expensive as a plane ticket.
Of course, as with all things, you have to be careful, but I think the internet is as good a place to meet someone as any.
Oh, and happy birthday!
There are so many nice people all over the world.
Of course, there are also so many bad people everywhere you go, too.
But, I believe, if you listen to the way they talk (like how direct or forceful their words are and such) I believe you can tell a good part of their personality.
But, I think you should always use AT LEAST voice chat, preferably video chat, before you agree to date someone - just so you can actually hear how they talk to you.
Foreign or not ( I mean, whether or not they are speaking their native language), I think a person's different tones of voice can be a good indication of their personality too.
And discuss things that are important to you - if you really really want children and he absolutely hates them, I don't think something big like that should be compromised.
Speaking of compromise, that is another good thing to discuss together.
Being able to come to agreements and compromise as a couple is good, I think.
Basically, the world is a big place, filled with lots of great people, why limit yourself to your town/city when "the one" could possible be all the way on the other side of the world?
Just use common sense and be aware of your surroundings, so to speak, and I think love really can happen on the internet, especially on places that aren't actually designated as "dating websites".
When you look at other people's corrections, underneath will be "good" and "quote" - click good to let them know their correction is good^^
Oh! Happy birthday! Have a great day :) 25 is definitely not old :)

Internet dating is bigger than ever now, and its making so many new relationships.
