Housekeepers

I'm usually so busy or away from home that I don't have time to clean the house throughly. My grandmother makes all kinds of messes while I'm away and she can't sweep or dust so it just sort of accumulates in various places.

So we have a housekeeper ("cleaning lady" is sexist) that will come once a week or so to tidy up while I'm out. She came over today for the first time with her partner in crime: her husband. Apparently they work together whenever he's off from his other job. They're an interesting couple; very amicable too.

He's a handyman (I guess that's kind of sexist too, lol) and mechanic. She runs a housekeeping business; oh yeah she's also a registered firefighter and journeyman electrician. =-o

They are very eco-conscious. They eat organic food, drive fuel efficient vehicles, recycle, and try to be as 'green' as possible.

They're open-minded, forward thinking, and concerned about the environment. I like having such people in my employment.

It's funny you should say that Sanae, because the husband was born in Japan and lived there until he was six. His father was stationed at the American military base in Okinawa when he was a child. =-P

Yes, it's comforting to see that kind of dedication (sometimes it seems all but gone). I consider myself to be a friend of the environment, so it was inspiring to see somebody who even exceeds my commitment.

You know what? My uncle Rocco served in US Air force for over 20 years, he went to Vietnam, and his two sons were born in Okinawa and lived there for several years.
