ولد والد = parent???
قرأ قارئ =reader??
i hope that helped :)
السلام عليكم
طلب = asked , طالب = Who asked ,, it's Like that .. But we use دارس as : student (who study)
ولد والد = pregnant woman??? << it's absolutely different ,, because ولد we use it for women ; so it well be ولدت (Gave birth to a child) ,, and who gave birth to a child well be والدة .. BUT " pregnant woman " mean حامل or with another word : the baby still in her womb
قرأ قارئ =reader??
نجح ناجح = successful man?? << not only a man !! it can be anyone
َِشكرا على قرأْ ت << it well be : شكرا على القراءة = thank you for reading
it seems good ..
لعب (play) لاعب (player)
Each VERB consists of three letters (in PAST), you can use the same formula .. and the meaning well be : Who doing the verb (subject)
I'll give you some verb :
جلس (seat) - سمع(listened) - لكم(boxed) - رسم (draw) - ساق (drove)
قَرَأ → قِرَاءَة
دَرَسَ → دراسة
ُوَصَرَ → وَصُول
is there something rule to make noun from verb??
by the way, it's وَصَلَ, and not وصر :)
1- سماعي it means no rule , you have to return to lexicon . it contain verbs that consists of three letters .. as you said
* قرأ-قراءة / درس - دراسة with the same formula : سبح swam - كتب wrote ..
*وصل - وصول with the same formula : حضر attended (حضور) - rode ركب (ركوب) -
2- قياسي it has many rules . it contain verbs that consists of more than three letters .
اجتهد - اجتهاد ..
I'll explain it later because I'm busy now
like,طالب العلم
the one who asks for Knowledge. :)
The ARE rules for اسم المصدر. However, they are not according to the number of letters in the verb and not like 1+1=2, call it "rule of thumb" if you like. We, Arabs, can sense the right choice by innate because we're native speakers, but despite that, we see many Arabs don't even have that sense. The "rule of thumb" of المصدر depends on putting verbs in groups; for instance:
- Verbs with the sense of uncertainty, rage, or disorder; like هاج هَيَجَان، فَارَ فَوَرَان، مَالَ مَيَلان
- Verbs with the sense of illness; like سَعَلَ سُعال، دَارَ دُوَار، هَزُلَ هُزَال
I don't remember all of groups, but it goes this way generally, and it almost hit the right answer each time. Then after becoming more fluent with the language, the user will know the right مصدر just by ear.
But as I said before, the student needs to understand the rhythm of "فَعَلَ", so he/she would understand these rules of thumb and many other rules in Arabic.
Alice
You're absolutely right, the one who seeks knowledge is طالب and طالب علم.
multiman .. first time when I read this diary I was thinking " Is there a rule for المصدر ?? " Because I say it normally , like : درس - يدرس - دراسة .. past - present - masdar .
then I remembered that I studied it at school !!
in general .. verbs that consists of three letters Don't have a specific rule , but we can divide into groups and each group has its own base ..
You're right in that he must be aware of وزن الفعل ..
This is most useful sites on this subject, but in Arabic .. May be we must translate it

Thank you Al7an
to my bad, I can not watch that good websites….
but your words are best teaching for me, sooo thank you.
first , you have to know وزن الفعل , it means how can you convert the verb using three letters ف ع ل + additional letters
e.g: كتب = فعل - كاتب = فاعل - كتابة = فعالة .. from this , notice that the basic letters ك - ت - ب was converted into ف - ع - ل , and the additional letters stay the same (While maintaining the حركات : ـَ فتحة َـُ ضمة ـِ كسرة ) , and notice that حروف المد آ - و - ي are always additional letters .. this is what we called وزن الفعل
it helps you a lot while learning المصدر
another example : طَالِبْ = فَاعِلْ / دِرَاسَة = فِعَالَة / مَشْرُوبْ = مَفْعُولْ
Are you able to accommodate this?
if you're .. try with this , it's easy to convert :
read قَرَأَ = ?
flu زُكَامْ = ?
go up صُعُودْ = ?
was generous أَكْرَمَ = ?
just try to convert it into وزن الفعل :)
Within this week, I will, hopefully, prepare a first lesson about "verb rhythm" (وزن الفعل). I hope it helps you Taiga along with all Arabic learners. If I succeed it, I'll continue.
Just stay tuned
That's a good idea,I know many people who want to learn Arabic,so I believe it's going to be helpful.
read َقَرَأَ = فَعَل
flu ْزُكَامْ = فُعَال
go up ْصُعُودْ = ِفُعُول
was generous َأَكْرَمَ = أَفْعَل
؟؟
If you practice more you will become fluent and gain a skill easly ..
Do you want examples of other, more complex ?
word writer كتب كاتب
طلب طالب = student (What saroonaa said is correct, but we also use طالب to mention a student because he SEEKS knowledge, and you might happen to hear the term طالب علم for the word "student")
ركض راكض = runner? (As a side information, the word كاسر also means "wolfish person/entity", most commonly used in this combination وحشٌ كاسر)
ولد والد = pregnant woman??? = father, and ولد (as a verb) means "Gave birth", but note that this is a masculine form, so would not (usually) mean that the man himself gave birth, but it would mean -indirectly- that his wife gave birth for him. Pregnant woman means حامل as saroonaa already said.
قرأ قارأ قارئ =reader??
نجح ناجح = successful man?? (It -indeed- could be anyone, but that anyone has to be a male because the word you wrote is in masculine form)
ضرب ضارب حاملُ المِضْرَب=batter?? (Well, this is a little bit tricky; because "batter" is used specifically for baseball, the player who's considered a "batter" would be (most commonly) حامل المضرب in Arabic, but still you can use the word الضارب for him. I'm afraid it's difficult to find a word in English to mean ضارب in it's general word. But I would just say "the beating someone")
زرع مُزارع زارع =farmer?? (if you want to say زارع then go with the word "planter")
Saroona did the job here :)
I see you're learning what we call اسم الفاعل واسم المفعول, and you did a good job. You use the infinitive form then you put اسم الفاعل which is the best way to learn tenses in Arabic.
Keep it up :)
yours is very easy to understand for me and in detail.
i will keep it upXD
