Got a kick from dolphin kicks

In Japan, we have a sequence of holidays from the end of April to early May, so-called "Golden week".
At the beginning of G.W., I went to an aquarium with my wife and my 2-year-old son.
We saw many kinds of fishes, white bears, walruses, seals, crabs, and tortoises.
Last of all, we took in the dolphin show.
During the show, the dolphin jumped out of the pool and hit a ball in the air with its tail.
My boy felts great joy.
I wish he keeps today's special in his memory.

    Generally we don't often describe a child being "joyful" because "joy" is like happiness in the soul. For example, someone would be in great joy if they got something really good from years of hardwork.

    Personally I would just say "My boy was extremely excited", or "My boy was very happy".
