Dear Lang-8 users,

Thank you very much for using Lang-8.
There was a bug on the privacy of journals.
All of entries which were only public for Lang-8 members were visible to everyone on the Internet during 15 pm to 18:30 pm on 15th October(JST).
The bug was fixed in 4 hours, but we are deeply sorry for that and we will be more carefully after time.

If you can't see Ranking or Footprints page, please push F5 key of your keybord.
If there were problems, please let us know.

Thank you very much,

Even if we are confident that the bug is fixed, we, the users in this case, shouldn't need to know if there is a problem if we are the ones who discover the problem. Perhaps: "...if anyone still has a problem, we want to know."?

Anyway, thank you for the comments. I look forward to reading your Japanese blog. :)

@Odoriko: The message is to the users, and the users wouldn't have fixed the bug.... So, it should be: "I assume that you are confident that we have fixed the bug..."

The standard use of p.m. and a.m. also isn't without a full stop, in formal writing.

Hmmmm....

"@Odoriko: The message is to the users, and the users wouldn't have fixed the bug.... So, it should be: "I assume that you are confident that we have fixed the bug..."

My sentence in red is my comment to the staff, and I was just explaining the reason why I rephrased the sentence.

"The standard use of p.m. and a.m. also isn't without a full stop, in formal writing. "

I wonder what kind of standard and formal writing you are referring to, because I see pm and am without spacing all over the place. If you are talking about the standard by the book, I would agree with you. Then I do not think the whole announcement was following the strict standard. Maybe Lang-8 staff should ask for comments before they publish anything so that we can fix them by the standard.

Howdy. Your language was completely comprehensible and fun to correct. I wouldn't be at Lang-8 if I didn't love giving and receiving corrections. I think that giving and receiving releases the serotonin in human brains. I assure you, p.m. is the standard, but I have also seen it written many different ways, even in newly released, Native English novels. I'm trying to give you "the college way"....

A question for Lang-8 Staff: Could you post what all of the icons mean on this site? I think I have figured most of them out, but I 'm not sure about a few of them. Or, better yet, if you already have this posted somewhere, could you provide directions or a link? If you already have it posted, I must have somehow missed it.

Thanks,

Yanagi
