I am STILL having problems:
- some pages load very slowly
- some pages don't load at all
- when I correct an exercise and click on Preview or Post, the page DOES NOT LOAD and I LOSE ALL MY CORRECTIONS!
As a temporary solution, you can use Firefox for now. In Firefox, pressing the "Try Again" button when the page fails to load seems to work without losing your corrections. With Internet Explorer I seem to lose my corrections every time, so I'm using Firefox only for Lang-8 right now.

I have been using mostly Google Chrome and sometimes IE8 and I lose the corrections on both browsers.
We all love Lang-8 and we really appreciate all your hard work and dedication, even while operating at a loss.
Are these problems caused by too much load? If that's the case, perhaps you could disable some features in order to reduce the load on your database. I think that few people would mind if you just removed the search - I don't know if many people use it, but that feature seems to be pretty database-intensive. You could also turn off the "My Comments" option for the time being.
If you aren't doing this already, perhaps you should consider using a memory cache such as memcached to avoid having to process pages every time (it's used in LiveJournal, for instance).
