I heard that many nonnatives know "moe (萌え)" too.
多くの外国人も「萌え」を知っていると聞きました。

Moe was derived from moe (燃え burning)'s mistypes.
「萌え」の語源は、「燃え」のタイプミスです。
But, It's used Japanese otaku (geeks) express feelings look like "sprouting something" (Because "萌え" is means "sprouting").
しかし、「草木が芽吹く」ような感情を表す言葉として使われています。（なぜなら、「萌え」は、「草木が芽吹く」という意味があるからです。）
It is not means lovely and sexy. (Some Japanese people, specially Japanese mass medias are don't understand it.)
単純に、「愛している」「エロい」というだけの意味ではありません。（一般人、特にマスコミは理解してませんが。）
