A little pig asked his mom where happiness was. She said, "It's right on your tail." But no matter how hard he tried, he still failed to bite his tail. Frustrated, he told his mom that he couldn't catch his own happiness.

His mother chuckled and replied, "Just keeping going forward. Happiness will always follow you."

小猪问妈妈幸福在哪里？妈妈说：在你的尾巴上。小猪就用嘴咬它自己的尾巴却总也咬不到，它沮丧地告诉妈妈自己总抓不住幸福。

妈妈笑笑说：只要你往前走幸福会一直跟着你。

    No disrespect to LaoLi's correction, but is should be "is" not "was" because of the next sentence: Mom said, "It is right on your tail."

No, the tense of "is" wouldn't be inconsistent with the tense of "asked". Think about it this way, does it really make sense for the little pig to ask "where happiness was" and then for the mom to answer "It is right on your tail." Happiness can't be in the past and the present at the same time.
