What you had was correct, but I think it sounds more natural to put 'everyone' at the end here.
I don't drink alcohol. Part of the reason is because I'm only 19, and part of it is because I'm aware that I'd be drinking a toxic substance. I think the only time I did drink an alcoholic drink was when I tasted some wine at a church.
