Annie : Failure (2)

I have been studying English for over 10 years from junior high school. Although I got 117 in my College Entrance Examination and passed CET 4 and CET 6 easily, I cannot say that I mastered this language.

I cannot write rightly and cannot speak to a foreigner. That is sad because we use the wrong method to study a language.

Our teacher taught us so many grammars and we had examinations all about grammars. It is too boring to learn.

However, I keep learning this language by myself, I watch American drama, and read English novels. When I first took IELTS, I thought I could got a good record and I failed. Then, after 4 months, I gave another shot but my writing point was still 5.5 as the first time.

At first, I was angry, and blamed everything: my teacher, the topic in the examination and the guiding book I used. But at last, when I calmed down, I knew I have to admit my poor ability of writing English.

Writing is not as same as listening and reading, it acquire more effort. It is hard to write like a native, and I am glad I failed in the examination because it keep reminding me: I am not good enough and I have to keep studying.

So, I think, sometimes failure is great, because it will force you to keep moving forward.

Annie : Flying on the road of death (2)

Above is the cover of a Photo News. Three big Chinese letters on the picture mean: miserable birds fly across this road.

"哀" = sad, miserable
"鸿" = bird， wild goose
"道" = road, way

This news made me so sad. Millions of different kinds of birds had been killed when they migrate from North to South in China. This is originally a migration channel that help them avoid suffering from cold and hunger, but now, it is a road of no return.

This is the second largest Bird migration channel in China, in Hunan province. Birds died here before they reach the warm places. The birds do not know that there are hundreds of people armed with gun, bamboo pole and big net waiting for them, and they do not know there are thousands of traps waiting ahead for them. They just want to get a warm place for winter, however, they lost their lives on the middle of the journey.

Some of the birds were killed immediately, the died ones and alive ones were delivered to some markets nearby. Some birds were killed in the market in a brutal way, because there is an old saying: the live bird's blood can cure, so some birds were plucked and bled alive.

I was sad and angry when I finished reading the news. The most disappointing truth is I cannot see a piece of the shadow of the law enforcement organs. This is happening because the government ignore it.

Now, this tragedy is reported by the media, and I hope it can attract the public's attention, then our government could do something to protect the birds and do not allow this happen again.

Annie : The Sandstorm I Experienced (9)

Here is a picture I got from web.But what happened in the picture I actually experienced when I was 12 years old.

It seems that I have no luck to grow up in a comfortable environment. My hometown, a really dry place, is surrounded by three small deserts. Without the Yellow River that across our province, people living there will suffer from drought all year round.

So, in spring, when the wind is rather strong, it is easy to cause a Sandstorm. There was one strongest that happened in the spring when I had been studying at my primary school.

It happened suddenly, we had a bright morning, however, when we finished our lunch, the wind blew harder. At about 4 o'clock, the wind begin screaming outside, just like thousands of ghosts was wondering and crying out of the classroom.

I remember we were having a math lesson and no one could pay attention to what was the teacher saying. Everyone looked out of windows and found out there was totally dyed orange. We cannot see anything but the orange color, even the building which opposite us in a near distance disappeared.

We never saw this before, interestingly, people were not fear of this, our children were all excited and curious.

This was happened quickly, about 30 minutes. A rainstorm that followed cleared up the sky and washed all the sand away. It seemed nothing terrible happened, but later, according to the day's news, l learned there were people dying in this terrible weather.

It is urgent to protect our environment, because the revenge power from nature is beyond imagine. I believe if we ignore these problems, in the future, no, maybe we do not have a future.

Annie : 《Red Rose and White Rose》 by Zhang ailing (4)

Maybe every man has two women in his life, at least two.

If he married the Red Rose, after a long time, the red one would become a drop of mosquito blood on the wall, while the white one were still shinning in his heart.

If he married the White Rose, when the time goes by, the white one would change into a rice that sticky on his cloth, but the red one would be a vermilion mole on his heart.

Annie : The city I lived （1） ：Yinchuan (2)

I was born in this city ——Yinchuan, which is in the Northwest of China. It is small but beautiful.

As its name, Yinchuan means Silver Land, because of the saline-alkali soil, when the rain stops and the sun comes out, the land will coated with a silver yarn, glittering under the sunshine. But as the city developed so fast, this beautiful scenery is hide by the Man-made buildings, it is hard to see nowadays.

However, there are more wonderful natural landscapes. We have the Singing Sand in Zhongwei (a little town that is not far from Yinchuan), the Western Xia Tombs —— people called it the Oriental Pyramid, and Shahu (Sand Lake) which holds the desert and lake at the same time ( desert in the lake and the lake in the desert, it is hard to tell which is bigger).

Of course, there are some delicious food and snacks which made by Chinese Muslims, you can come and taste for yourself!

:)
