Family
The family size reduces considerable in this modernized society. Everyone lives in the tiny apartment far away from their home countries in the city to search for more opportunities. Thus, the traditional type of living style, "extended family", gradually disappears. But there are lots of good aspects that the extended family can contribute to its members; the most important of all is the closed-related interactions between each member in the extend family that everyone can help and take care of each other.
Comparing to the nuclear family, which know as the small size of family that most of people have now, the interactions between each member in the extended families are far closer than what we have in the nuclear families now. Even though there is an old Chinese proverb says that the neighborhood is like another new kind of relativity relationship we possess in the old time. I still believe that the relationships we build up with our neighbors cannot be compared with the one we have with our family members. The tight linkages between us are too close that we will help others for sure no matter what happens.
The best example, which my family faces now, is the care of my grad mother. She lives alone in far distance away from us in the southern part of my country. But she cannot deal with her life by herself. Thus, we ask her to come and stay with us. In this case, it is easier for us to take care of her. However, it is impossible for us to take care of her all day since both my parents are working and I am still in the school. If we held an extended family style of living that one or two of our relative lives close to us and can take term to take of my grand mom when we are working outside, there won't be the dilemma whether we should send her to the retirement house or keep her stay with us for now.
Beside the convenience the extended family style of living can provide, there still are other contribution it can make to each member in the whole family. Passing of our family tradition, teaching the young about the moral standard by the old are other factors we could anticipate to gain from the extended families. In the nut shell, considering so many good effects this could provide to the family, I will choose this kind of living style in my future when I build up my own family.
