「なの」には、特に意味はありません（多分）。
日本の（主に）女の子が、話言葉で文の最後につけます。

I think 「なの」doesn't have meaning by itself.
Japanese girls and women use it, and it soften the tone.
(It's a colloquial word.)
But the phrase 「こんなの」means "like this" (it's also colloquial).

「だった」means past tense.

I agree with Mariko's comments. :)

そうなの? = そうなんですか？ = Is that right?

だった is a little bit different with かった。
かった is used with adjective. For example,

それは美しい花だった。=It was a beautiful flower.
その花は美しかった。= The flower was beautiful.

その子供は女の子だった。=The child was a girl.
その子供は女の子らしかった。= The child was girly.

Or we say like this,
私は、そこへ行かなかった。= I did not go there.
私は、そこへ行けなかった。= I could not go there.
I guess you know those sentences are very different from using だった.

だった 与かった是因为日语有一类形容词和二类形容词的区别。
一类形容词以い结尾　例えば　難しい，　熱い　。
　二类形容词则不是以い结尾。例えば　静か　簡単
当他们表示过去的时候。
　一类形容词的变化时 難しい＿難しかった。熱い＿熱かった。
　　二类形容词则是 静かだった。　簡単だった。
　这是他们作为简体肯定过去式时的变化。还有敬体的肯定过去式。以及否定的过去式的敬体和简体的变化。
