Maya in Wonderland

I haven’t spoken English for ages and recently a woman with two children came into the shoe shop where I work in. A boy was her son and a girl was her niece. The woman was originally Israeli but moved to Barcelona while her sister moved to Boston and now both of them came to visit their relatives in Israel. I sat near the little 5 years old girl Maya and start talking to her, she was very nice and felt more at ease. I asked her about her new dolls which she was holding in her hands. Maya told me their names and pointed out the one she considered the most beautiful and the name “Maya” she gave to other doll. (Interesting!) So in the end of our small talk I knew that all the dolls are going to live at Maya’s doll house and it’s a secret place which none of adults are aware of and it’s so big that Maya can go into it almost completely except of her head, and arms.

  • A boy was her son and a girl was her niece.
  • A boy was her son and a girl was her niece. (because a son is by definition a boy and a niece is a girl, to state their gender is not necessary) It would probably be better to say "The two children were her son and niece."

It's probably better grammar to say "...a secret place of which no adults are aware..."

Your English is very good!
