I have a writing assignment, and as part of the assignment I need to talk about my job. So, I'm looking to see what I can say in terms of drawing blood. My actual title is Phlebotomist.

Can I say the following to mean my job?

Also, what is the closest translation to Phlebotomist if my above sentence isn't correct?

Thanks for your help everyone.

I think that is rare job in japan.
Someone working like phlebotomist is nurse.
But they usually do other job, too.
may be ,1 is natural.

I don't know what phlebotomists 瀉血専門医{しゃけつ せんもんい}do. 専門医 sounds like you are a doctor. Do you take blood from patients and do testing? Since I wasn't sure, I translated like; "I do works related to blood drawing.

I have never heard of this word before...
I hope my translation helps.

Thanks for you help everyone.

Nagaisan,
I will use the second sentence since I am only in a intro course. But, thank you.

Clematis,
I'm not a doctor, but I do run test on the blood after collecting it from the patient.

Tomo,
Yeah, it is a very medical word.

Rioka,
Thanks, but it is different from my end. Putting it in someone isn't as bad as when you are on the receiving end. Although, I will let interns train on me. I've gotten to the point that when I need something tested, I draw my own blood.

Are you, by any chance, clinical laboratory technician (臨床検査技師 in Japanese)?

Isamu,
No, I'm only a phlebotomist. I do a lot to assist the lab techs though. Unofficially I can do a lot of testing, but only the techs are allowed to report the results to the doctor's. Officially all I am supposed to do is order test (if needed) and draw blood from patients.
