On Steve's death

Steven P. Jobs, one of the founders and former CEO of Apple, has passed away.
アップルの共同創業者の1人で前CEOのスティーブン・P・ジョブズが他界した。

There is no doubt that he was one of the greatest entrepreneurs of our time.
同時代人として彼が傑出した起業家であったことは間違いない。

There are many things I would like to thank him.
彼に感謝したいことはたくさんある。

Other than the things like iPhone, iPad and iTunes that most people praise him for, I would also like to remind you of his two bold endeavors, both of which could have failed miserably.
iPhoneやiPad、iTunesといった多くの人が彼の業績として賞賛するであろうことのほかに、みじめに失敗していた可能性もあったジョブズの大胆な2つの挑戦について思い出してもらいたい。

As a big fan of the movie series 'Toy Story', and a father of a little kid who loves computer-animated movies, I would like to thank him for starting the movie studio, Pixar.
映画、トイ・ストーリーのファンとして、またコンピュータによるアニメーション映画が大好きな子どもを持つ父親として、Pixarという映画スタジオを作ったことに感謝したい。

The other great challenge was NeXTSTEP.
もう1つの彼の大きな挑戦はNeXTSTEPだった。

Next computer as a company was almost a huge fiasco.
会社としてのNextはほとんど大失敗だったといえる。

But, the operating system, the core software named NeXTSTEP is still alive in the iPhone and the MacBook series.
しかし、そのOS、NeXTSTEPと名付けられたコアとなるソフトウェアは今もiPhoneやMacBookシリーズの中で生きている。
