SIYUN : HAPPY NEW YEAR!! (0)

Everybody!! happy new year!

At start of a year, I usually set my some year's goals.
In last year, my goal is "try to something new and challenging!"

I think I almost accomplished it.
I decided to try to apply for graduate school, and started to study English again for the first time in a eight year when I enrolled a college.

Since I completely forgot how to study in order to pass the entrance exam,　studying every day has been really hard for me.

I have to set my this year's goal.

I don't like to do the same thing for a long time
because I maybe easier feel to bored about it than the other people.

Recently, I frequently think that doing the same thing and doing the long time is possibility for our success.
Of course, I believe quick judgement and action the other way is also and always important.

I noticed that there's no doubt that my lack of perseverance is key element for my achievement and goal.

Therefore, I will try to get perseverance!!

This is one of my most important goal in this year.

Thanks

regards

SYunpei

SIYUN : TOEFL practice (0)

Today's TOEFL practice.
(Answer that I wrote contains a little bit fiction in order to answer quickly.)

Q:
We all work or will work in our jobs with many different kinds of people. In your opinion, what are some important characteristics of a co-worker (someone you work closely with)? Use reasons and specific examples to explain why these characteristics are important.

A:
I can think many characteristics which important to work with. I have to pick one, however, I would have to choose sense of humor and kindness for the following reasons.
Most Importantly, people who has sense of humor make co-worker to happy. For example, when I was a first year to work full time at the Information Technology company called NTTDATA, I was a sales assistant. Sales assistant in the company was responsible for
making contract correctly for my customer. My supervisor, Hoshino, was very strict person but had a sense of humor. One day, I had a mistake about making contract and my costumer was very angry. I was
discouraged about it and went back to the office. Then Hoshino speaking his funny episodes which he had already mistaken experiences. Thanks to his humorous episode, I was encouraged his episode, then I started working as per usual. If I had not heard the episode, I might not have been discouraged more. As the example illustrates, sense of humor make co-worker to happy.
Secondly, kindness is allow co-worker to work well-done. For instance, in my office example above, there were very busy period in two a year. that period, office was very noisy and people were very tired. One day, My co-worker had huge amount of task and he obsessed with that task. Then, my supervisor, Hoshiono, help him to work with. Consequently, he was relaxing and the atmosphere of the office was change. Thanks to his offer, the co-worker is relaxing and work well-done. If my supervisor had not helped co-worker, he would not have work done-well. This clearly example, kindness allow co-worker to work well-done.
For the several reasons above, in my opinion, sense of humor and kindness is important characteristics to work with.

Thanks

SIYUN : GMAT TASK (Analysis of an Argument) (0)

Today, I wrote a essay for GMAT practice.

Because, I am taking a GMAT tomorrow.

This task is too difficult for me to write in 30min and precisely

I have to try harder. :'-(

Analysis of an Argument

#14
Question
The following appeared as part of a newspaper editorial:
“Two years ago Nova High school began to use interactive computer instruction in three academic subjects. The school dropout rate declined immediately, and last year’s graduates have reported some impressive achievements in college. In future budgets the school board should use a greater portion of the available funds the buy more computer, and all school in the district should adopt interactive computer instruction throughout the curriculum. ”

Discuss how well reasoned …etc

The arguments that this interactive computer instruction in three academic subjects virtually solved the problem of dropout rate and impressive achievement in college omit come important concern that must be addressed to substantiate the arguments. The statement that follows the description of what this interactive computer instruction will do simply described the computer instruction and achievement. This alone does not constitute a logical argument in favor of the interactive computer instruction and certainly does not provide support or proof of the argument.
Most conspicuously, the argument does not address the relation of the introduce computer instruction and some achievements. First, the argument has assumption that interactive computer instruction can decline dropout rate. But if the cause of the achievement is not the interactive computer system, the computer system was not related the achievement at least. Second, the argument state that the impressive achievement in college. However, it is not clear what kind of achievement and what does not provide the contribution of the computer instruction. Third, the argument states the future budget that the school board should buy interactive computer instruction, and all school in the district. But if the all school in the district was not the same situation, the plan would not work properly.
Because, the argument leaves out several key issues, it is not sound persuasive. If it included the items discussed above instead of solely explaining what the interactive computer instruction supposedly does. The argument would have been more thorough and convincing.

I'm tired...

SIYUN : GMAT TASK　(Analysis of an Issue) (0)

Today, I wrote a essay for GMAT practice.

Because, I am taking a GMAT tomorrow.

This task is too difficult for me to write in 30min.

I have to try harder.

Analysis of an issue Sample Topics

#15
“Some people believe that the best approach to effective time management is to make detailed daily and long-term plans and then to adhere to them. However, this highly structured approach to work is counterproductive. Time management needs to be flexible so that employees can respond to unexpected problems as they arise.”

Discuss the extent to which you agree or disagree with the opinion expressed above. Support your point of view with reasons and/or example from your own experience, or reading.

Many people feel that making detailed daily and long-term plans is counterproductive. On the other hand, it can be noted that highly structured approach to work is believed the best management tool. In this discussion, I shall present argument favoring the latter statement and refuting the former statement.
Management that is to make detailed daily and long-term plans and to adhere to them can clearly see the problem. If you do not have the plan, you would not find out whether a task now conducted is delay or progress. Moreover, if you do not know the problem precisely, you could not countermeasure the problem. This is what I truly point out this statement.
Of course, employees may respond unexpected behavior some times. But this problem can be avoided by some devices. First, the plan is include the times that deal with the unexpected problems. When you make the plan, you must count on to occur the unexpected problem. Thus, if the unexpected problem occurred, you might not modify you first plan to deal with the problem. For example, in information technology software industry, the people who project manager must do so. Therefore, if some problems occurred unexpectedly, they could deal with them in time.
Second, manager has to prevent the problem. Employee who conducts unexpectedly does not find out purpose of his job truly. This is most caused of little explanation or communication with a manager. For instance, in the IT software industry, the product is not visible and not easy to check immediately. Therefore, the less check you conducted, the more problem occurred. This situation just can be avoid by frequent confirm for truly understanding. If the manager communicated with employees well, the employees might not respond unexpected problem.
Last, the device that can make plan productive is to review the employee’s work finely and frequently. If your employee mistakes or misunderstands the purpose of its job and the failure work took a long time, you would not conduct the project in time. However, if the failure took only a little time, you would get back easy.
As the example above illustrates, making the detailed daily and long-term plans and then to adhere to them is definitely productive.

SIYUN : #1)Why do people attend the college or university? (0)

※This is TOEFL practice

Q: People attend college or university for many different reasons (for example, new experience, career preparation, increase knowledge). Why do you think people attend college or university? Use specific reasons and examples to support your answer.

A: There are many reasons to attend university or college. I'd have to say just one, however, attending university or college is much more rich for our life. I have a several reasons for this.
First of all, attending university allows me to learn more certain subject. For example, in 2003, when I was a junior in University in Tokyo, Japan, I took professor Tanaka's Marketing Class. His class was very interesting and very unique for me. We watched many different kinds of TV commercials almost every week and was lectured about what the mean and the purpose of them. Of course, I usually watched TV commercials at that time, but I didn't realized the strategies of them. Then, I interested in TV commercial. If I hadn't took a Tanaka's Marketing Class, I mightn't have tough that TV commercial is so fun.
In addition, you can make many various type of friend in campus life. For instance, When I enrolled at university, I just came from Miyazaki, local area of Japan and far from Tokyo. So I have few friend in Tokyo. To be honest, I was a little nervous. However, at the first class orientation, one guy talked me suddenly, maybe he was a little nervous too, so we shared the same situation and got along with each other at a burst. He lived in America for six years and He actually had a lot of foreign friends in university. Thus, I made a lot of Tokyo's friends one after another thanks to him. And he and I have got along with each other nowadays. As the example above illustrates, university is the best place to make a valuable friend.
Therefore, Attending the university or college is more rich your life.

Thanks.
