nori : Integrated train system around Tokyo (0)

Today, I'll explain about integrated train system around Tokyo.

Now, I live in Yokohama city which is near by Tokyo and one of the biggest cities in Japan. Taking a trains is the best choice to go somewhere around Tokyo because there are many trains and these trains always keep accurate time table.

As a convenient tool used in cell phones, we often use train transfer applications which help us to find a optimal way to change trains in order to get to a destination both early and cheaply. It's very popular app and every body use it to go to unfamiliar stations for the first time or to search the time of last train after drinking.

By the way, trains around Tokyo have woman-only cars at early morning and late-evening to prevent groping. It's really sad to say that there are some groping incidents in Japan and that's why special cars were set recently.

I think Japanese groping problem has many aspects and it's interesting to consider in a sense.

I would like to utter about this aspects and show a jural problem related with groping on the other day.

thanks

nori : business writing and manner (0)

Hi, everybody.

As I wrote in the last entry, now I take a business lecture in a new company I entered in this Apr. Today's lessons were business writing and business manner.

I had been student until this March and I behaved as a student. It means I speak frankly with my friends and I didn't be punished by somebody if I didn't go to a lecture because of oversleeping.

but I just started work and do everything as a business man of my company.

I think Japanese in business is definitely different from usual's and very difficult to use.
For example, do you know "Keigo"?
Keigo is style of Japanese we use it in formal situation. and really difficult. I guess most of Japanese can't use it completely.
Because of that, I am surprised whenever Gaijin use Keigo fluently.

Anyway, I learned how to make business letters and e-mails. It was difficult and I don't use it.

but, I think it is going to abolishing because it's too difficult to use completely and there are few people who know it in detail.
Moreover, we need to face global market. In such a situation, It's just vain of energy and time.

Tomorrow, I have a party with my colleges who entered the company at the same year (in this April). It must be fun!!

nori : My life in a company has started. (0)

Hi, everyone in Lang-8.

I haven't written my daily for a long time...(again)
During this term, I graduated my university with getting a master degree of mechanical engineering!!
It's really good news for me because I hated my lab in my university and I had wanted to left this for 2 years. so happy!!

In fact, Japanese university is not so strict that every master students were able to left university, i guess.

After that, I moved in a company's apartment.
I had just 1 year ago decided the company I entered on 1st in Apr. I live in the apartment about really reasonable fee and there are many colleagues in the apartment who entered at the same time. It's really good to find friends to go out to drink and to talk with. great!

I worked only 2 days and I will learn about my company, how to behave as business person and English. It seems boring but it's first challenge for me. I will do it!

I think it's difficult to keep to study English after working. but I need more ability of English.

nori : Transparent specimens (0)

Transparent specimens is one of art using chemical.
Recently, I got to know this art and bought a book written about it. Many animal specimens are shown in the book and I can clearly look their bones colored into red or blue because their muscles are transparence by using chemicals.

To make this specimens, you need many chemical liquids and a plenty of time. I don't know how to make it detail.

This specimens had made just as academic things by researcher. but one men started to make it as art. It's looks so beautiful and make me think that all of lives are designed perfectly.

He made small fish's one for 2 weeks and small bard's one for 2 years. It would mean I can make human's one for 20 years...

Anyway, I bought one of fish and It always makes me relax when looking.

I will make it by myself someday!!

nori : Toeic (1)

Do you know a Toeic?
Toeic is a test to measure our English skill and it's really famous in Japan. Many schools and companies use this Toeic as a certification when they select students or staffs.

It's same for me. I needed to take a Toeic before I had a job interview and I am going to take it again after I start working.

To be honest, I don't like this Toeic because it just shows the ability of a pepar test not a real communication. I mean, not all people who get a good score on Toeic can have a good communication in English.

So, now I learn a oral communication mainly and skill for Toeic somehow.

Toeic is one of system about English.
I think every system has bad point.

we shouldn't stick to Toeic.
The biggest goal is to communicate by using English.
at least for me.

I need to find another place to speak English in order to improve my English skill.

Once I tried to find a foreign friend in tokyo but it seems difficult and now I try this Rarejob.

I haven't registered yet thought, I can have two lesson for free.
nori : very cold (1)

so, today is more colder than yesterday. It seems like go in winter.
it is snowing at the mountain of japan.
I really want to snowboard in this winter.

but the temperature of japan is getting higher every year because of global worming. It means the amount of snowfall will reduce in the future.
I might not do snowboard 30 years later!!

but this is really difficult and complicated problem.
Firstly we don't find the cause of this global warming. Some scientists say increasing CO2 is the cause. Others say it's natural movement from the view of long period of the earth, the temperature of the earth has been up and down for a long time so we don't need save the emission of CO2

I think CO2 is one of reason of global warming and It's time to save the usage of fossil fuel. but It means we need to save everything and let go comfortable thing.

hmm..
do you know good solution?

nori : I went to a dentist. (0)

【If you know any more natural phrases, please tell me!!】

Today, I went to see a dentist and I came back just now.

It was about 6th or 7th times so far.

Today's treatment was heavy. I fixed three teeth at once. There are some feeling of anesthesia left in my mouth even now.
At first, the dentist injected anesthesia around a bad tooth. And she got rid of a bad part by a drill or another device.
I couldn't know what was happened in my mouth. I could only hear the sound of treatment. I felt a little bit fear.

It costed an hour for today's treatment. And she said to me 'you have to come again to clean a root of your bad tooth'

What is a root of a tooth?

Whenever I go to see a dentist, I fell a kind of unfair.
Because a dentist know how much does it cost. But I couldn't know. If I ask there about it they would not tell me.

hmm,, I don't want to go to anymore....

I didn't make a journal for several days because I could't make the time to do it. But it's not good for improving my English skill. I want to make one journal every two or three days.

I like sports, especially volley ball. I belong to a volley ball club at universiy and I used to play it with my friends in gym. Instead of gym, I often play volley ball in beach now.

The main difference between volley ball in gym and beach is head-count of team. When I make a team about beach volley ball, I need only two people. There are several modifications of rule as head-count changes. Actually, beach volley ball is quite difference sports from it in gym.

I enjoy beach volley ball every Sunday as far as the weather is not bad.
Thanks.

【If you know any more natural phrases, please tell me!!】

I often used 'maybe' when I spoke and wrote English till now.The word 'maybe ' could be translated as 'たぶん' in Japanese. たぶん is very useful word in Japanese.

For example, you asked your friend to come to your party then your friend said 'たぶん'. In this case, your friend probably come to your party. On the other hand, there is a possibility that your friend doesn't.
'たぶん' has meanings of maybe and probably.

Because of that, I often used 'maybe' the same way as 'たぶん'.
I am going to use both maybe and probably as the situation.

【If you know more natural phrase, please tell me!!】

June is a season of 梅雨.
Japan has 4 seasons in a year and 梅雨 is the rainy season in June.
梅 means the Japanese plum and 雨 means rain. There are several hypotheses for origin of the word '梅雨' though, no evidence.

so, there are a plenty of rainy days in June. What do you think about manga??

There are many mangas in Japan and I really love those. Some mangas would be sold in foreign countries like Dragon ball, Pokemon and so on.
I think there would be many manga fans among Lang-8 members.
Maybe some people says that manga is worse than books or manga is really childish though, I don't think that's always right.

In japan, there are great mangas that give us courage even the way of living. My favorite one is 「Jojo's Bizarre Adventure」 written by Araki Hirohiko.
It had been serialized in Jump long before and it is really famous among
Japanese young men.

When you have an opportunity, please read it.
