No need to wash after cooking
No need to wash after cooking
After the big earthquake occurred in Japan on March 11th, I didn’t have running water for about two weeks and it was really inconvenient.
I gave up cooking for a while but I found a good way to cook.
I’d like to give you a recipe for chicken dish with no need to wash the pot after cooking and I hope it would be useful for you too.
What you need:
One chicken breast
Two tablespoons of soy sauce
Two tablespoons of sake or wine
Two tablespoons of sugar
One tablespoon of water
One re-sealable zipper storage bag(e.g. Ziplock Bag)
How to cook:
1.Get chicken out of the refrigerator and leave it at room temperature. I recommend you take chicken skin away.
2.Boil plenty of water in a big pan, turn the stove off, and wait for about five minutes with the top on the pot.
3.While waiting, mix all the seasoning in a re-sealable zipper storage bag, soak the chicken in the seasoning, and keep the air out closing from edge to edge.
4.Put the bag in the pot and leave it in the covered pot for twenty five minutes. You don’t need to turn the stove on.
5.Take the bag out of the pot, let it cool in room temperature and serve it as you please.
Please try also to season only with salt instead of what I suggested above. I’m sure you will like it.
When you want to save some water to wash your hands before and after cooking, you can use two plastic bags as a pair of gloves. This is what I did during water outage.

I know a better way... go to the restaurant xD
I’d like to give you a recipe for a chicken dish with no need to wash the pot that doesn't require the pot to be washed after cooking and I hope it would will be useful for you, too.
Get Take chicken out of the refrigerator and leave it at room temperature.
I recommend you take removing the chicken skin away.
Boil plenty of water in a big pan, turn the stove off, and wait for about five minutes with the top lid on the pot.
While waiting, mix all the seasonings in a re-sealable zipper storage bag, soak marinate the chicken in the seasoning bag, and keep the air out by closing well from edge to edge.
Take the bag out of the pot, let it cool in at room temperature and serve it as you please.
When you want to save some water to wash your hands before and after cooking, you can use two plastic bags as a pair of gloves. (Alternative: "Instead of using water to wash your hands before and after cooking...")
This is what I did during the water outage. (or, "during water outages" -- not sure if you were referring to many or just one outage)
Without any water at all, you could wrap your marinated chicken in foil and bake in it the oven. I haven't tried it, but I'm sure it would come out yummy, too. I know the oven isn't used much in Japanese cooking though ^^;
Thank you very much for sharing the nice recipe!
I want to try it someday!
My dishes are always like garbage, though. ^^;
How are you? I'm not good at cooking, so I admire the person who can cook well. ^^
I'm not good at cooking either ^^; If you like eating, you will be good at cooking!
I guess you already know it, but here's a good site for cooking. My favorite one!
http://cookpad.com/
Oh, thank you very much for sharing a nice site! *^0^*
What is your favorite food? ^^
I like rice balls very much because it's simple to make but yet yummy (*^_^*)
Do you like cury and rice? Please add these seasonins to your cury recipe:
Please fry garlic and ginger before meat.
one tablespoon of miso
two tblspoons of ketchup
one tblspoon of Worcestershire sauce
two teaspoons of soy sauce
one or two tblespoons of vinegar
two tblspoons of Parmesan cheese(add it at the last five minutes of cooking)
200ml tomato juice instead of the water out of quantity of the water called for in your cury recipe(この英語には自信がないf^^;分量の水の内、200mlはトマトジュースを使用します。
Please adjust the seasonings as you like ^^
Wow, I've never heard of that! I cannot imagine how it'll taste if I add miso, vineger and fried ginger. ^^;
If I have enough courage to do so, I might try it. ^^;
Thank you very much for telling me an amazing recipe. ^^
You can also try seasoning it only with salt instead of what I suggested above.
:P
I'm glad you're okay, even with all the earthquakes. It must be tough having to invent new ways of cooking.
You can get used to it!
