She did it!

One of my students, who took the STEP test, sent me a text message. She told me she would probably succeed in the test.

She did it!! She has been endeavoring to improve her English, so her efforts finally bore fruit. We got down to practicing speaking English for the interview test to add to our regular lessons. She told me that she would have butterflies in her stomach.

Anyway, I'm sure she'll attain one of her goals. ^^

That's great :D. I didn't know there was an interview part for the STEP test- that has to be difficult. I'm told the Japanese school system focuses much less on pronunciation and more on grammar. When you're watching an anime and they attempt to speak English, it usually comes as a rather glaring flaw in the dialog. Do they test pronunciation, or is it just to see how well you can communicate with speech?

Hi,Zarma
Thank you for visiting here and giving me your comment.
Yes, The test has an interview part what we call 2次試験 in Japanese as you may know. (5th and 4th grades doesn't have it.)

It's relatively challenging for schoolers who are trying to pass them because they- almost all Japanese schoolers- don't have enough opportunities to interact with someone in English. As you mentioned, the test is more academic as compared with TOEIC.

They'll test both. It'll take about 10 minutes or so.

As for the 1st grade, we need to give a speech on a topic ranging from politic to current issues.
