Last Saturday night my son, who is 7 years old, got a high fever. I was worried he might have come down with the flu because the flu has raged across the nation. In fact, the second grade of the school where he goes were to stay home due to the rage of flu. Some students of mine were forced to call off their regular lessons because of the flu or bad colds such as vomit and diarrhea.

Fortunately his fever subsided the following day and he was up and around as if he didn't have a fever. He rarely gets a fever, and even if he has a fever, whether a slight fever or a high fever, he is fine as usual the next day. As such I thought he got that kind of cold.

Last Tuesday night, however, he got a rash on his body. What was worse, his upper lip was swollen. He didn't have a fever, but he had an itch on his body. Those kinds of symptoms were the first time for him, so I rushed to call a medical service center to ask about the symptoms. The nurse of the center told me what I should do for him at first. Then she advised me I watch his condition unless he was choked by the rash.

The next day I took him to the hospital and our family doctor saw his symptoms. He told me my son has been infected with hemolytic streptococcus what we call 溶連菌感染症 in Japanese. Oh, gosh!...
Finally I knew the cause triggering the symptoms, so I was relieved...

Anyway, he has to stay home for a few days, including today and take antibiotics until the doctor gives us permission.
