cosmetic surgery

I think many visitors to Korea want to get some procedures like double eye-lid surgery or a nose job. Actually, Korean people develop an unhealthy obsession with their looks. Some want to look like celebrities who they like. Even emplyers would put an emphasis on the interviewee's looks rather than their competence and quailifications. Some go for cosmetic surgery because it helps boost self-esteem. To be honest, I had double eyelid surgery when I was a college girl. My friends used to call me "small eyes" or "shrimp eyes". I had a terrible nickname. They teased me about my defect. I was so angry and it upset me whenever they teased me. However, after getting a surgery, I became a person who really likes to take self-pictures and it helped me have more self esteem. Although I have to admit that plastic surgey makes someone happy, it's so risky to choose to go under the knife multiple times, because it is addictive.

Some go for cosmetic surgery in that it helps boost self-esteem. "in that" is a little awkward here, it doesn't really mean "because", but it's just a very minor error. Your English is very good, so I can address minor errors here (you don't have any major ones!).
To be honest, I got (HAD sounds better) double eyelid surgery when I was a college girl.
However, after getting a surgery, I trun became a to the person who really likes totake self-pictures (pictures of herself -m sounds more natural)and it helped me have more self esteem.
Although I have to admit that plastic surgery makes some people happy, I don't think it's so risky to choose to go under the knife multiple times, because it is addictive. --> I think it's too risky
However, I also have friends who have had surgery and I don't hold it against them; I think it's ok to do in principle. But sometimes Korean actresses and models look too much alike to me; I always hope that people can see the beauty in their uniqueness (maybe that's just a western perspective?).
