enjoy studying : a car (0)

I don’t have a car.　When I was in Japan, I have a car. However, I have quit driving a car since I came to Canada. I thought a car is a necessity in Canada before I came here. Now I am comfortable without a car. When I need a car, I take a taxi. Whenever I take a taxi, I don’t need to look for, walk to parking, and drive a car. When I call a taxi on the phone, a taxi picks me up. I just only have to wait here. Furthermore, I can get some available time while I ride in a car. I always use the time to read a book. Though I sometimes wish I had a car, I am able to enjoy my life time without my car so far.

enjoy studying : Computer Trouble (0)

Today my computer suddenly didn't work. I had a hard time. I have recently relied on computers and the internet in living. Now my life will not work without a computer. I have used a computer in studying, communicating, shopping and so on. I found that I needed a computer even when I received technical supports in computer trouble. Lately
many computer companies deliver helpful technical supports on their websites. However, when a computer doesn't work, how do I use these support? Fortunately, I have two computers, so I can use a computer and the internet if one of computers doesn't work. I had a lesson when my computer didn't work before. I need to have 2 computers if I don't want to stop my life.

enjoy studying : IMAX (1)

The other day I went to the theater to watch the movie, “Transformers”, and experience IMAX technology. This is the first time I have watched the movie with IMAX technology. IMAX is the abbreviation of Image Maximum. This technology was created by IMAX Corporation in Canada. We are able to have wider view angles in the theaters with IMAX technology than in usual theaters. Furthermore, we are able to hear the same sounds no matter where we have seats. Therefore, we are able to feel as if we were in movies. Many of these theaters are located in Canada and the United States. However, I have heard that the first theater with IMAX technology was opened in Japan this year. The movie with this technology excited and thrilled me. However, I was more tired after the movie than usual. I think that the sounds and views which IMAX technology delivers stimulate senses excessively.

enjoy studying : おにぎり - Onigiri (1)

One day I wondered what '' onigiri '' which is Japanese word was called in English. I looked up the word, onigiri, in a Japanese-English dictionary. I was able to find '' rice ball ''. Then I looked up '' rice ball '' in Longman Dictionary Contemporary English Online and Merriam Webster Online. However, I was not able to find anything. I wondered why '' rice ball '' was not in English-English dictionary. I probably guess that there is no '' onigiri '' in English culture, so English-English dictionary doesn't need to include the word, onigiri, however, it is necessary for Japanese to explain '' onigiri '' to people from other countries in English. By the way, '' rice ball '' is a little strange word for me. This is why the shape of '' onigiri '' is not always sphere like a ball. This shape is sometimes triangle pole or column-shaped. Maybe we mainly see the triangle pole-shaped '' onigiri '' in Japan. If I could publish an English-Japanese dictionary, I would translate '' onigiri '' into '' lump of rice'' as an English word.
If you would like to know about '' onigiri '' , please visit this website. The URL is below.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rice_ball

enjoy studying : ''Bond, James Bond'' (0)

I like James Bond film series. I watched the movie which is titled '' Quantum of Solace''.
When I first came to Canada, this movie was released. However, I did not have chance to go to the movie theater. Moreover, I had been absorbed in watching Stargate Atlantis on DVD. The other day I was able to finish watching all seasons of Stargate Atlantis, so I decided to watch the movie on DVD.
This movie excited and thrilled me and lady who is called Bond Girl was attractive and brave. However, only one thing disappointed me. This is because there is no ''Bond, James Bond'' in the movie. James Bond who wore tuxedo and bow tie always would say, '' Bond, James Bond'' when he introduced himself to his enemy in the party which was always held by his enemy. I like this scene. I think this scene shows us how gentleman is.
However, James Bond film series is one of my favorite films. In Japan we learn American English mainly, so British English in the movie sometimes puzzled me. This is why I like this movie.

enjoy studying : American drama television series and English learners (1)

I like to watch American drama television series such as C.S.I., Stargate, The West Wing and so on. I often watch them on Television and DVD. It is also very useful for learning English. In the beginning of coming to Canada I asked some Japanese people where I could buy DVD. Someone said to me, '' Why do you want to buy DVD without Japanese subtitles.'' It would seem that they usually buy DVD with Japanese subtitles on Amazon Japan. Why do they do that ? They usually say that they want to speak English fluently. In the United States or Canada we can get DVD earlier than in Japan besides DVD in he United States or Canada has closed caption. Closed caption is very useful for English learners because the almost all words which performers say are showed on the screen. Some American drama DVD in Japanese version don't have closed caption but English subtitles. However, English subtitles don't include all words which performers say. Of course I can not always all performer's words. Maybe I sometimes have mistakes the meaning of dialogue while I am unaware. However , I think it is more enjoyable for me to watch American drama television series in English than in Japanese even if I can't understand them perfectly.

enjoy studying : Shoeless Joe's (0)

Shoeless Joe's is a sports-themed restaurant located in Ontario Canada.
The name is a reference to an old Major League Baseball player named Shoeless Joe Jackson.
One day I went to the restaurant for dinner. The aim of my visit was to eat the Bison Burger .
That was the first time that I had eaten bison meat. It tasted like beef. However, it was not as much oily as beef. Actuary I prefer beef to it. This restaurant has many kinds of dishes and is suitable for families, groups and couples. The staff is very kind and friendly. Children can also enjoy a meal.
Please visit the homepage of Shoeless Joe's if you are interested in it.
The URL is below:
http://www.shoelessjoes.ca/

enjoy studying : How do you learn English? (3)

Japanese people around me sometimes ask me that how you learn English. I wonder people ask me about that. I don't think I am a good English speaker, I am a good English writer, and I am good at English. When I was in Japan, I had not used English except taking English examinations and writing a letter. However, I live in Canada now and I need English for living, so I just have to learn English. Many Japanese think the reason why they are not good at English is because the English eduction which is delivered by Japanese government is not good. However, I don't agree with the opinion. As a matter of fact there are many Japanese people who can work by using English language. Furthermore some Japanese statesmen in Meiji era ,from 1868 to 1912 A.D., spoke fluent English although there were no good English text books let alone Lang-8 at that time. I think the only people who make an effort to learn English are good at English. I have seen that the people who came from countries where English is not an official language make an effort to learn English strongly since I came to Canada. Now we have many good ways of learning English. However, these many ways may make people puzzled. The only one thing I can say is that there is no royal road to learning.

enjoy studying : Tim Hortons (1)

These days I go to Tim Hortons for buying coffee every morning.
After I bought a cup of coffee I always go to a park and then I drink the coffee on the bench with seeing birds and squirrels.
Probably Tim Hortons is the most famous fast food restaurant in Canada.
I can see many people on the street walking with its coffee and doughnut.
I had never heard of Tim Hortons until I came to Canada. There is no Tim Hortons in Japan. When I was in Japan I would go to McDonald's or Starbucks for buying coffee. When I was walking with the coffee of Starbucks one day somebody said to me '' You should go to Tim Hortons. You will drink a good coffee there''. I go to Tim Hortons almost every day from that time.
