ATTENTION: This review is not for food-oriented visitors in Japan! Rather, this is for those who want to save money for other than food!

Name: Saizeriya/サイゼリヤ
Cuisine: Italian
Type: Fast casual-dining
Open: Everyday, 11am to around midnight.
Payment: Cash only
For: those who want to save money like students!
Not for: gourmet, Italian, food-oriented people!

Taste:★★★☆☆(three-stars is average=okay)
Volume:★★☆☆☆
Service:★★☆☆☆
Cost:★★★★☆(more stars, cheaper prices!)

Saizeriya/サイゼリヤ is quite popular and large chain restaurants in Japan: There are around 800 chains! So whereever you are, it's really easy for you to find one of their green signs!

Once you step into, you can see many families and teenagers chatting and chatting. This is because customers can stay there as long as they want with one order of drink-buffet(180円 with other foods, or 270円 if you order only this).

This may bother you if you prefer calmness, but this is a fast casual-dining restaurant! you better enjoy this hurly-burly!

I went out for dinner with my friend last night, and had

・a decanter of wine(199円, about 2 glasses)
・appetizing chicken(299円, 5 pieces)
・appetizing sauted spinach(199円)
・Spaghetti peperoncino (299円)
・Pizza with anchovy and squid(399円, around 8 inches, not big)
・humberger steak(399円)
・Doria with tomate sauce(299円)
Total: 2,193円( $23 for two)

Actually, we ate too much, and my stomach was about to explode!

If you are not an Italian, a gourmet, or a food-oriented vistor, Saizeriya can be one of your choices!

  • You better enjoy this busy atmosphere if you come. (Hmmmm... We don't use these onomatopoeia type words so much.).. I think you wanted --> But, if you enjoy a lively atmophere, you should come!

Wow! Italian food in Japan looks very very different than what we get here. The pictures are great! Thanks for including them.

How did you type the little stars??
Jul 23rd 2009 12:48 tora

Hi, Rachel!!

Thank you for your corrections!! Your expressions look very useful!

Actually, in 5th sentece, "drink-buffet" means "if you order a meal, and pay extra 180円, you can drink as much coffees, teas, and juice as you like". And "even in the case you don't order any meals, the price of this drink-buffet will be 270円!
Oh, it is still confusing.

how to type little stars is to type "ほし" in Japanese, and convert it!

This resaurant serves some kinds of salads, but you don't necesarily choose here to eat a salad when you come to Japan! I will look for restaurants for vegan vampires next time!
