読書が好きなんだ。特に小説なんだけど、読み終えるまで時間がかかる。
最近暇な時間があまりないので、短編小説を読んでみようと思っている。

昨日本屋さんに探しにいったけど、見つかれなかった。
どこにあるか分からないので、店員さんに聞いてよかった。
でも聞いても、「どのジャンレが好きですか」とかと聞かれたら、ちょっと困る。
日本語はまだ勉強中なので、役に立つのは多分日常会話が入っている物語だろう。

ありがたいことに、同僚に聞いて、「貸してあげようか」と言ってくれた。

だれかお勧めがあれば、教えてくれませんか？

I like reading. Especially novels, but they take time to finish.
Recently, I haven't had a lot of free time, so I'd like to try some short stories instead.
I went to a book shop yesterday, but I couldn't find any.
I should've asked a shop assistant, but I wouldn't know what to say if they asked what type of book I wanted.
I still need to study and practice Japanese a lot, so I think stories with daily conversation and expressions would be the most useful.
A colleague has kindly offered to lend me some short story books.
If anyone has some suggestions, please tell me.

「ショート・ショート(short short story)」と呼ばれるタイプのものは、ひとつの話が数ページなので、読みやすいと思います。ただＳＦ小説が多いんですよね……。日常会話の出てくるもの、思い出したらお知らせしますね。

blue -> suggestion

短編小説は今ちょっと思いつきませんが、長編小説の『告白』の第１章だけ読んでもひとつの完結した読み物として読めるので、推理小説のようなものがお好きでしたら、いいかもしれません。
図書館できけば、本を薦めてもらえると思います。

図書館(library)を利用するのはいかがですか？
読む本は、絵本や児童書(じどうしょ)がオススメですよ。
私も、ときどき絵本や児童書を読みます。

大人向けの絵本(大人も楽しめる絵本)はたくさんあります。

I just remembered the time when I was looking for any books about quilting at a book store for the first time. I asked the shop assistant "Do you have any books about quilting?", but she took long time to understand what books I wanted. "Quilting" was hard to pronounce.(^_^)

You can say "日本語の勉強をしているのですが、日本語日常会話が多く書かれている、短編小説などはありますか？" to ask, but I'm not sure they are able to answer it becaise they might not know about it well. (^_^);

By the way, can you borrow books from your local library? If so, you can ask same question at the library.

Anyway, is the book your collegue lend you good? I hope it's good.

Hello. Have you ever read Haruki Murakami? I think maybe he's too famous, but if you have ever felt sorrow at losing, you might like his novels.
If you read a novel in English beforehand and then read it in Japanese, it's a good way of improving language skills. I do that to improve my skills!
