According to an article called “Prescribed Killers” (by Nancy Shute), written in the April 27th, 1998 edition of U.S. News, drugs are more dangerous than an accident, pneumonia, or diabetes. According to Journal of the American Medical Association, adverse drug reaction is the forth that cause death among causes of death in the United States. The number of deaths are between 7600 and 137,000 per year because of adverse drug reaction. The reason of the adverse drug reaction is that the drug’s mechanisms are not understood enough. Moreover, these adverse drug reactions are hardly reported. Furthermore, these drugs are habitually used without thinking the results. It is important to reduce the drugs. Even though there are adverse drug reactions, the drugs are used as main treatment tools because it is integral to modern medicine. However, It is clear that there are adverse drug reactions, so pharmaceutical companies are investigating how the drugs are metabolized, basing on age, gender and ethnicity.
