I read an article in U.S. News, called “Prescribed Killers” The article was written by Nancy Shute. After I read this article, I could be aware of new information about the drugs. It is interesting. The author state that adverse drug reaction is the forth that cause death among causes of death in the United States. Of course, I know that there are adverse drug reactions but I do not think that adverse drug reactions are so serious. It is really shocking news. I think that even though there are serious adverse drug reactions, it is impossible not to use the drugs because the drugs are necessary to modern medicine like the article mentioned. There is interesting information in this article. According to this article, “People demand drugs even when they are useless, like antibiotics for the common cold, a viral infection.” After I read this part, I feel the same way like about the part. The drugs are habitually used by many people. I don’t know the reason surely, but I think the reason is that many people including me would like to be ready to cope with the unexpected. Therefore, they demand the drugs. In conclusion, through this article, I could know the information about the seriousness of the adverse drug reaction.
