「あまり」と「あんまり」は同じ意味ですが、「あまり」の方がprototypeですね。「あまり（余り）」に撥音が加わって（訛って）「あんまり」になった。「あんまり」はどちらかというと口語(colloquial style/spoken language)ですね。

About the "happy drunk" correction:

"happy drunk" is different from "heavy drunk".
Happy drunk means the person becomes very happy and has a lot of energy.
Heavy drunk means the person loves to drink all the time.

『ハッピードランク』と『上戸』は違いますね。
『ハッピードランク』の意味は、とても嬉しくなって、元気すぎる人だけど、『上戸』だとは、いつもお酒を飲んでいる人だという意味です。

As for the word "Happy drunk",generally, it's a kind of cliche. When you get drunk and becomes very happy and has a lot of energy as you mentioned and moreover, laughing a lot, we say the person becomes 笑い上戸 in Japanese. There are some more cliche about it.For example,if you get drunk and becomes sad, then it would say "a sad (crying) drunk-泣き上戸", and becomes angry, then it would say "an angry(a quarrelsome) drunk-怒り上戸. However, you can just say ほろ酔い気分or 酔って陽気になる,too.

Sorry, I'm not good at explanation of Japanese grammar as you may know.....ahahaha

Your writing Japanese seems quite good much better than mine. You just try to speak it with native speakers or watch a lot of Japanese dramas as much as you can.

I didn't do anything special in Christmas. In new year I went to Asakusa Senso-ji temple a couple of days ago. The temple is crowded with many people including foreign people.
