About me

I've been studying Japanese since the beginning of this year (self-study). I took about 2 1/2 months off of vocabulary & grammar to go through Heisig's book, "Reviewing the Kanji", to learn 2000+ kanji. A lot of work, but totally worth it! Now I feel so behind on the rest, but I'm learning quickly.

私は今年(2009年)の始めから独学で日本語を勉強しています。2000字ちょっとの漢字を学ぶため、(南山大学の)ハイジックさんの『漢字の復習』を２ヵ月半かけてやり終えました。大変でしたが、非常に価値がありました。今でもたくさん勉強することが残っていますが、短時間で学んでいくつもりです。

I have been so pleased to find Lang-8 and realize I can write sentences better than I expected. I was planning on only asking for translation help, but it quickly turned into a little journal. It is hard for me to piece the sentences together, though. I have to look up a lot of vocabulary and guess which word would be the best to use, which causes a lot of mistakes. I can not read nearly as well, so please forgive me when I do not reply to comments left in Japanese (I can only understand a little bit). Thank you so much for all of the wonderful comments and corrections!

Lang-8を見つけられてとてもうれしいです。私が思っていたよりもうまく文章を書けています。翻訳を手伝ってもらいたいと言うしかできないだろうと思っていました。でも、すぐに短い日記を書くことができるようになりました。とはいえ、今でも文を組み立てることは難しいです。たくさん言葉を調べないといけないし、使うのにどの単語が一番いいのかを推測しなければいけません。読むこともほとんどできないです。なので、日本語で残したコメントが返事できなくても大目に見てください。少ししか分からないんです。すてきなコメントと添削には、全部感謝しています。
