Last couple of days, I've been reading a famous classical Chinese work "Dream of the Red

Chamber". I had heard about the novel and its author long long time ago, since I was a

child. Quite frankly, I've been trying serveral times to read it but all failed. Perhaps it

was a 18th century work, used classical written language, so it was so tough for me to

comprehend, thus, I had to stop from the first chapter all the time.
Don't know why till now I just could handle it. I still have not read through the work yet

but it was a astonishing novel indeed. It's really a work of artistic merit, really a

worth-reading novel at least with me.
It's a sad story. I'm reading the chapter that it was said to be the among the saddest, it's

really moved. The young girl, the main charaters, her name is Lin Da Yu, after being sick

for a while, still weak but she tried to stroll out for some fresh air. She inadvertently

came into the garden of cherry trees and painfully found that all the flowers were falling,

falling everywhere full on the ground. Feeling so sad for the flower that cause her to

remind to herself. ( as Asian women often be considered flower- beautiful but very sensitive

though). She slowly picked up all the falling flowers, stored them into a bag and prepared

to bury them. Treating them as her old friends and talked to them. The words she talked,

it's a poem. I try to translate here:
"At this moment you die, I collect all of you and bury your body.
But what time when I lose my life, it's hard to predict or say.
Now, I'm burying flower. Everyone will laugh at me and say I'm foolish.
But do you know who would bury me in someday.
Look! Remnants of the glory spring, all the flowers are gradually falling.
Is this the time that a young girl could pass away?
One day the spring of my life passes completely. I'll become old. I'll will put it all

behind, my young adorable appearance, my heart. At that time you will blossom again but I

would have died.
Who will bury you again when you fall and who will bury me like I did for you?"

Hi minicat,

Thanks so much for kind help.
Oh, could I have a question? Are you studying Chinese too?

Hi... actually I must start to learn Mandarin soon. But I am not ready yet, since I know almost nothing except the Kanji I know from Japanese. Andis Hao means "good" ^^

So I am gaining karma with the God of learning languages by doing some big correcting first ^^

Haha, I you have already mastered Kanji, I think it'll quite easy for you to learn Chinese. Since Chinese modern writing language is even easier than Kanji ( most of Kanji charactes are classical Chinese charaters I think so). I don't know Japanese but sometime watching NHK I could barely understand. It's maybe something like the similarity between Latin and Western European nations's language.
