Flute's sound is terrible!!

I have learned the flute twenty years ago for a year. The flute was founded in my used room.
Playing the flute, I couldn't make good sound.It is like Shiyakuhachi.(Bo-Bo-Bo-)
Because of terrible sound, I decided to learn the flute.I will be to make a good sound of the flute by Christmas.

I've never played any musical instruments other than the recorder. :X
