Natsuki : Mobbing o acoso laboral (0)

Natsuki : Mobbing or workplace bullying (0)

Mobbing is like bullying, but in the place you work.
I think it's more or less known in USA and UK, but in Spain, no one knows about it. I mean, bullying is well-known and it does often appear in the news. If you ask someone in the street, though, he or she will not know what you are talking about.

Why am I talking about it? Because I know a person who suffers it and is struggling against it. Few people want to help, though none of these are in her workplace. Well, this person has two friends, but they also suffer mobbing. Last week, a "letter to the editor" was publish in a newspaper, but not much was explained in it. Also, in Spain there isn't any law against this kind of treatment.

She is writing a blog explaining what they do to her and how she acts against it: bajoelyugodelmobbing.blogspot.com
Please, visit it (it's in Spanish, though)

Natsuki : What to visit in UK? (0)

I'm going to England this July. I will be spending 9 days in London, but I've got 5 days left to spend visiting other things.
I've thought about going to Liverpool. There, I could visit the cathedral, the house where two of them lived, and... I don't know else. I have to look the Website, although it's difficult to understand.

What do you think? Do you think I should visit 2 cities (which?), or is there any other city that has a lot to visit (like London)?

Natsuki : Liverpool's Official Tourism Web Sucks!! (2)

It's horrible!! I can't describe it in one ord! I can only explain it by yelling!! really!
I'm going to the UK this summer, and since I'm spending so much days, and I'm done with everything in London, I want to visit another city. The first city that passed by my mind was Liverpool. Obvious? I don't know but... I'm regretting it!!

I did the same as with London: I went to the Official Tourism Web. I can't find anything, though. You go to something and they don't explain the most important things!! No information at all!! Only things like "It is great, fabulous, fantastic, important..."
Then, I saw a tag which had "Touristic Guide" written. I thought "Fantastic! The same as with London! I'm saved!". Wow, I can really be naïve! This Touristic Guide was even worse!!

I'm freaking out, really. And what's worse, I don't have plenty of time, since I'm in the middle of my final exams. Really, this is driving me mad.

I saw this film yesterday. It is about 3 guinea pigs and a mole that want to be secret agents from the FBI, since they’ve been trained for this purpose. One of the makers is Disney.

The truth is that it is like a typical special agents movie: they are not recognized, they are prohibited from doing their job, and finally they accomplish a mission that no one else could do.

There are some pretty animals like the guinea pigs themselves or the mice. I wouldn’t strongly recommend this film, but well, it has a few funny points and it’s not completely boring.

Natsuki : Everybody's Fine (2009) (2)

Today, I watched Everybody’s fine. The first time I knew about it was when I was waiting for the subway. There was a very big banner with the poster of the movie. I thought it could be OK watching Robert De Niro, Drew Barrimore and so on.

This movie is about a man with four grown-up children. He expected too much from his children and pushed them quite hard. The one who listened to them was their mum, but she died 8 months ago. This father decides to go and visit all of them, as a surprise, but he ends up staying in each house one day and every one lies to him. After this trip, he learns some things about parents behaviour and relationships between fathers and sons.

This movie is quite slow. I guess it’s just because the main character is slow, but this kind of movie needs things to be fast, or they get boring. There aren’t many things to happen, really. Also, at the end, it seems more like a documental on “how you should treat your children: what’s good for them and what is not”.

In short, I didn’t like it. I didn’t feel anything at all with this film. Just boredom and sadness for the way the father is treated (although I know it’s not his children’s fault).

Natsuki : A Christmas Carol (2009) (2)

I have just seen the Disney version of A Christmas Carol. As many people, I already knew the story written by Charles Dickens. When I saw the trailer, though, I wanted to watch the movie. I remember that it seemed dark and a little bit funny. Later, I read something about it, although I don’t remember from which website, and it criticized the filmed because it wasn’t for children, although it was from Disney. Anyway, I watched it today.

At first, it’s quite a usual one, but when Scrooge gets to his home and sees that type of aura on his door house… It gets pretty scary, really. The appearance of his old fellow is not better: the sudden appearance after the noises and the silence, his sudden changes of mood, the appearance of a lot of ghosts after his disappearance…

If this wasn’t enough, there are more horrible views: the dislocating jaw of the ghost (although it gets quite funny when he tries to talk), the ghost of the present dying, his skin drying out, turning into a skeleton, the representation of the ignorance turning to violence, the want turning to prostitution, all the madness involved in this characters…

I want to make something clear: it’s not like I think that it’s a bad movie. I actually enjoyed it. But… I’m not sure if I would want my little cousins to watch it. Well, for grown-up children it might be OK, but… for little children… I don’t think so.

By the way, something I just wanted to say: the laughter of the ghost of the present drives me mad. I hate it! I couldn’t bear listening to him any more! I’m lucky it ended.

Natsuki : Future... Acting (0)

Wanting to be an actress is quite difficult. Well, it’s not really difficult… What is difficult is to actually become one. And not only because there are so many people wanting to be actresses, or because you cannot play all the roles. This is the last. There are another think you have to think of, if you want to be an actress. You have to know where to start.

The truth is that I don’t know what I should do (apart from finishing my career). This year, because of where’s my flat, I have to study drama at the university. Next year I’ll be living in a big city, so I’m sure I’ll be able to go to a drama school.

I’ll finish university in two years, if everything goes OK. What should I do after that? I cannot take a four-year-drama-school because I will be too old when I finish. That’s why… I have three options:

1. Stay in Spain, study a master of Drama Studies and seek jobs.
2. Go to England, attend a master of two years, and seek. (Or seek without studying).
3. The same that in point 2, but going to Los Angeles.

The most important theatre is in England.
TV and cinema are in LA.

What’s better? I don’t know… I just love acting.
I watched this film with my mum today, though not entirely.

The film is about three brothers that go to India. The trip was planned by the older one with the help of a bald man. He wants them all to start trusting each other, because they don’t, and to meet a person. He doesn’t tell them who they have to meet until the middle of the film.

I watched this film because a friend recommended it to me, and because it had four stars in the heat magazine. My mother and I, though, couldn’t continue watching it after the first 45 minutes. We didn’t understand what it was about, it didn’t have any sense!

Lately, my mother has had some problems and she thinks about them all the time. When I was so bored I couldn’t watch it any more and I moved it forward, she told me “I was paying such attention to understand this film that I forgot everything that has happened these days”.

Well, at least, watching an hour of that film wasn’t a lost of time for her.

Today is 10th September… That means that I have 10 days of holidays left. My school year begins the 21st September. For some of you, it may seem quite late, but it is quite early, actually. I’m at university and it used to start at October. Now, though, since the education reform, we start at September. First year students start their classes the same day that primary and secondary students start theirs.

For us, it’s a little bit frustrating, and it’s even more frustrating when you attend classes in which you do absolutely nothing.

I watched this movie yesterday and I really liked it.

It is about a famous teenage singer who starts to forget every important thing of her normal life. That’s why her father takes her to their hometown: he wants her to remember the importance of the normal people around her.

It is a funny and an amusing film to watch. Not all the actors are extremely good at acting, but they are good enough to let you have a good time. It’s not the best movie I’ve ever seen, but I had some laughs with it. I strongly recommend it to you.

I know lots of people hate Hannah Montana, and I don’t know why. Can anybody explain it, please?

I has just watched “Ponyo on the Cliff by the Sea”.

It’s about a goldfish who arrives at a human’s home. This human is called Sosuke and he is 5 years old, the same as the goldfish. When Sosuke sees the goldfish and thinks he’s dead, he puts it in a bucket and fills it with water.

It is a childish film, but an adult can watch it, since it is not sooo childish.

I watched it in Japanese with English subtitles, so I’ve learnt some vocabulary.

My roommate went to watch this film at the cinema, and came with two posters.

Our Japanese teacher showed us a video of a Japanese drama called “Nihongo dekimasu”. A friend told me that she had the episodes of this series because one of her friends had it.

Two weeks ago, I asked her to copy the DVD and give me the copy. She gave me the DVD the Tuesday of last week. I put it in my laptop, but it was blank. There wasn’t anything in there!! So she sent me another copy. This time, it worked. She told me that she couldn’t watch all the episodes because it was too repetitive. I like it, though, because I can her real Japanese, how Japanese people use their language. We are only studying grammar and vocabulary at university, so we don’t know how to talk. But I want to speak Japanese!! >.< That’s why I watch these episodes. Furthermore, I understand most of what they say, and that makes me extremely happy.

Watching them I’ve also learnt some things about Japanese culture. For example, I know how to make a sausage look like an octopus, how they hold high their socks, and so many things.

The bad point is that I only have the first DVD. I want the others, but I can’t find them… In fact, I’ve found the chapters, but I want the DVDs. When I can understand Japanese better, I’ll only watch the story.

Natsuki : Help - Go To UK (1)

Does anyone know any school/university where I can take a course of about 2 weeks?
I want to go to the UK in order to improve my English, and I want to meet English people and talk with them.

I don't know what to do!!>.<
I was thinking of taking a short course and stay in a hostel. The most important thing is to meet people and talk with them. The courses are not very important, indeed. The most important thing is speaking!
So, if anybody knows where I can meet English people... that would be a very important information.

Well, if anyone can help me, I'd be very grateful. :)

Natsuki : English Classes / England (5)

Hello!! How’s everybody? Does everyone have exams? I will soon finish them all!

Well, what I wanted to explain is my English classes. Last week, I did two English exams. In the first one, we had to write a summary of a given text. In the second one, we had to answer a reading comprehension and we also had to write a composition.
When I finished the second exam, I realized something: not only haven’t I learnt anything this year, but I’m also losing my capacity of expression.

I’m really disappointed with my career. I have six subjects, but I only learn something in two of them. What’s more, my English and my Spanish are worse than before.

I’m planning to read a lot and to watch films in English. I’d prefer to go to Ireland or Great Britain, though. If I go there, I think my English would improve. The problem is that I have to get my driving license and I have to go to my village. I’d be free from the 15th July to the 29th July. If I get my driving license, I’d be free from the 1st September to the 17th September.

Does anyone know anywhere where I could study/work?

If not, just correct my journal, please. ;)

The first time I watched it, I was very young. I remember that all my family gathered together every Wednesday in order to see this series. At that time, I was very young, but I still remember some of the episodes.

This TV series is about two men who become flatmates, although they are of very different age. Jordi López is a radio announcer who is looking for a new flat because wants to live with his girlfriend. David Güell is a drama student who wants to live in a flat because he doesn’t want to be laughed at by his friend for living with his parents. When López founds an apartment, David appears and says that he also wants to rent it. López finally rents it, but the next day, David appears in the apartment saying he is going to live there. In addition, at the utility room, there’s a ladder which leads to a wooden little house, where a young girl lives. If all this wasn’t enough for López, David’s charwoman goes everyday to their home because he needs her to wash him, wash his clothes, make meals…

Every episode tells different stories from the lives of these people, and most of them have two separated stories whose main characters are David and López. The scenery is always the same: the living-room of the house and the kitchen, the drama school, the radio station and the bar where David’s friend works.

This was a very popular TV series when aired for the first time, and it is easy to understand why. The actors are really good, and the two main characters are perfect. Their way of speaking is the same used in our daily lives; the characters make errors and sometimes make stupid things which are always funny; and the characters are very nice. Furthermore, the series is not a complicated one, hardly to understand. It is simple, understandable and funny. This is probably why it was a great success.

Natsuki : The Holly Week (1)

Since tomorrow begins the Holly Week, I haven’t got class. That’s why I came to my home town. Today, I’m meeting some friends. On Tuesday, I’m going to a restaurant with a friend. On Thursday... I’m going to Barcelona because on Friday, Saturday and Sunday I have intensive drama class. We need these intensive classes because the 22nd and the 23rd, we are performing our play.

The play is titled “Do the mad people act?”. The author is Michel Viala.
We had to translate the play because it was originally written in French, and there isn’t any translation in Spanish or in Catalan.

Natsuki : Holidays... (2)

Yaaay!! Holidays at last!! I really wanted to have some holidays!

I wanted to go home today, but my father is in Barcelona, so I’ve been told to go home tomorrow morning. When I finished my lunch I decided to visit my grandmother. She’s not in really good health, but she’s doing her best. She says sometimes meaningless things, but if we take it well, it can be actually funny.

By the way, yesterday, my flatmate told me that she would wash the dishes today… She didn’t do anything, though. I’m a little bit angry because I came home at 22h, I’ll leave at 11h tomorrow, and I have to do all the washing up.

Natsuki : A Goat's Song (0)

This is the name of the book we’re reading in English class. It was written by Dermot Healy, an Irish man.

Last year, the people that were in my school year read Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone. We asked the teacher why they had changed. He answered that teachers were fed up of reading it every year; plus, the writer had to come to Spain, so they decided to make us read it. That’s very, very selfish.

This book, A Goat’s Song, is very difficult. It’s difficult because, sometimes, it’s written something that the main character is imagining. Sometimes you read, but you can’t understand anything. This book uses an easier vocabulary than Harry Potter does, but the writing is quite difficult.

Last Tuesday, the writer came and gave a lecture. No one understood anything. He hardly moves his lips!! Everyone was like… “… O_O”
A classmate told me that we had to write a summary of the lecture, but… I only wrote a few things. I couldn’t make a summary with my notes! When I went out, everyone around me was saying “Did you understand anything?”, “I might be the most stupid person of the class, because I didn’t understand anything!”

On Thursday, the writer came to our class. We were in groups, and we had to ask him some questions. It reminded me of my school time. I felt like I was at primary student. But this time I could understand him better. Maybe it was because he was nearer…

Natsuki : Choose: Catalan or Spanish? (3)

Most people in Catalonia are bilingual. We can speak both Catalan and Spanish, but some prefer Spanish, others prefer Catalan. Personally, I like both languages… although maybe I slightly prefer Catalan. After all, my mother tongue is Catalan.

That’s why when I entered at university I had a very huge problem: “Do you want to translate into Catalan or into Spanish?” Oh, come on, I cannot decide! Can’t I translate into both? “No, just choose one.” Since Spanish is more used, I decided Spanish. Plus, when my mother asks something in English I answer in Spanish… That’s why I thought that it would be better to choose Spanish… But now… I think I would do better if I translated into Catalan.

The other day, I was talking with a friend by MSN. We started talking about the Spanish language. He said that it was better for foreign students not to come to Catalonia because we speak Spanish so badly. Then, he said that Spanish-speakers from South America speak better than Spanish-speakers from Spain, and started teasing me, which made me feel very bad (I was already feeling bad because of my problem with choosing Spanish instead of Catalan). He noticed how I was feeling, apologized and told me that since we were friends, I could tell him anything that made me feel bad.

Well… since then, I’m perfectly. I don’t think about that problem. I think: “Since I write better in Catalan than in Spanish, I’ll learn Spanish and, if they let me, I’ll translate documents into Catalan too”. I suppose that I write better in Catalan because my mother tongue is Catalan. In Spanish I make errors because Catalan’s way of writing is different from Spanish’s. Months ago, I didn’t know that it was like this…
