Dear lang-8 members,

I am registered as a learner of Japanese and Thai.
I fear I won't get around to studying Japanese in earnest until I retire in May 2012.
I should begin to study Thai somewhat earlier, because my wife and I plan to settle in Thailand once I retire.
For the time being I restrict myself to correcting entries in German.
Foreign languages (Latin, English) have always been my favourite subjects.
A long, long time ago I even began to study to be a translator, but for
several reasons I did not finish,
English remains my first love.

Kind regards,
Mike

You became a translator long time ago didnt you?
I understood it.because your correction is always evactness, and right.

But If you will lean to japanese, your character is not good.
Japanese is very different a language from you wre leaning.
For example, writting,listening and speaking.

So you should write Japanese diary.
Mistake is very important.Everyone will learn another language.
Alphabet is ok!!!
Please trust your friens,I think Japanese is very kind perhaps.

Hello Ronin Mike!

A pleasure to hear from the man behind the corrections! I am very appreciative of your feedback. Best of luck on your Thai and Japanese sojourns.

Warmly,
Sprachjunge

P.S. Your English is flawless, of course. But it never hurts to hear it ab und zu, ne? :)

Hello Mike san,
Thanks for all the corrections that you made for me. It's interesting to read about what you wrote. I once worked as an interpreter and translator (Jap/Eng/Spa) too. I still work as a translator sometimes. Currently I am learning German because I live in Switzerland. Since my husband doesn't speak German and also, as you know, swiss German is very different from Hochdeutsch, I am having difficulties to learn.
Good luck with your Thai and I think retiring in Thailand is a superb idea!! Take care!

Hallo Mike,
vielen Dank für Deine Antwort und Korrekturen! Ich habe diese Seite gelesen und ich finde, dass Du ein guter Mensch bist, so viele Leute zu helfen.
(It might be a little early to say this, but I haven't learnt anything else.)
Schönes Wochenende!

I'm glad to hear that you are learning Thai.

I wish you would speak Thai fluently as fast as possible ^^.

Hello, Mike!
Thank you for correcting my German:)
And I'm very glad to hear that you're lerning Japanese...my mother tongue!
Japanese is quite a difficult language (especially the character) for european, just like English/German is difficult for me.
But never give up, let's do our best!
