You don't have to go so far to New Jersey if what you want are Japanese goods. There are many places in the city itself where you can get a lot of Japanese items. Do you know about St. Mark's Place? There you can find izakayas and also Japanese grocery stores. Simply take the 6 train to Astor Place and you'll be within a 1 minute walking distance from there.

I love Mitsuwa! They have them in Chicago and Los Angeles, too. All of my Japanese friends are surprised that you can get so much authentic Japanese food in the US. If you live in a big city, you can find almost anything.

Wow, you went to Mitsuwa Marketplace?
My friend used to work part time at Mitsuwa! (But now, that friend is studying at a university in New Zealand.)

I love going to Mitsuwa, but I can't go there very often. (Because I live about an hour and a half away from there.)

It sounds like you had a great time!
英語を頑張ってください!
