I haven't been writing anything in English for months, so I thought it was high time I give one more try. Let's talk about positivism.

Why is it that often so, that journalists relate negative events? Wouldn't the world feel much better if we continuously spoke about happy things? I'm quite bored of learning that some 20 people died at the other end of the globe on the previous day. I know it happens, and it's a pity. But what's the point in daily reminding us there are wars and massacres?

I'd rather learn we invented some medicine against AIDS, see reports on humanitarian work, learn about the discoveries we recently made in some seldom explored field or be told that politicians finally took - and applied - drastic measures to protect the environment. It would on the one hand contribute to the world's atmosphere of peace and wellbeing, and give us food for thought on the other one - what we desperately need to keep mentally healthy.

Depression has been recognized as a disease. I'm convinced it would never have been the case if we had broadened positive information instead of barking about international terrorism and criminality. Let's spread the perfume of joy and happiness to counter-effect mass pessimism!
