高校の会話
あけおめ ことよろ ^^
今日、僕は会話が書きました。 難しかったです。
-------------------------------
高校の教室で、学生と先生が話しています。学生は質問が聞きます。(ここにaskは「聞く」を使ってもいいですか。)
In a high school classroom, a student and teacher are talking. The student asks a question.
「日本語でタイプする時、スペースは使わないでよ。」先生と言った。
"When typing in Japanese, don't use spaces." the teacher said.
「そうですか・・でも、いつからスペースが使いますか?」アリスと聞いた。
"I see.. but when do we use them?" Alice asked. (「いつから」はNGでしょう。)
先生は「英語で書いたり、他の言語で書く。やはり、IMEで漢字変換する。」と答えた。
The teacher responded, "When writing in English, and in other languages. Also, doing kanji conversion with the IME."
「はい。先生、ありがとうございます。」
"OK. Thank you."
「もちろん。今、勉強を続けるぜ。」
"Of course. Now continue studying."
「はい・・」
*sigh* "Yes sir."
---------------------------------------------------------------
A bit of a weird conversation I suppose. Just got bored and started writing about what was in front of me, which just happened to be the IME.
I'm having a lot of trouble trying to figure out the correct way to use "when" and "should" as in "When should we use them?"
All help is really appreciated. 本当にありがとうございます。
まだへたくそ・・

and talking about a time -> とき
When is your birthday. あなたの誕生日は"いつ"ですか?
I get nervous when I speak Japanese. 日本語を話す"とき"緊張します。
You should do that. あなたはそれを"すべきです。"or "したほうがいい"
It should be true. それは本当の"はずです"。
I should have done my homework last night. 昨夜、宿題をすればよかった。
should can be translated in many different ways depending upon the context.
You can find lots of example sentences here.
http://eow.alc.co.jp/should/UTF-8/
The basic meaning is "すべき"
However, this sounds little too strong sometimes to use as a sugggestion.
"したほうがいい" is softer.
Oh.. すべき.. geez I just studied that.. I really should have known. Thanks.
The biggest problem is I've studied some of this passively but never have learned it well enough to actually USE it... which is not a good thing :P
I appreciate both of you putting up with my terrible attempt to communicate. Sorry for putting you through the trouble.
Ah well, more mistakes means more learning.
Oh, and thanks for the politeness correction, but I was more in a mood for a...yakuza-type teacher :D Probably not the best thing to do while learning, but I couldn't get that image out of my head.
Thank you both.
あけましておめでとう(^^)
添削も説明もみなさんとてもわかりやすくしていらっしゃるので、私は
新年の挨拶だけ。
がんばってくださいね
ありがとう ^^
