Dispose a refrigerator

These days, my neighbor moved to a far place.

He had a nice refrigerator.

But he was going to buy new one near the new room.

So he gave me the refrigerator.

Of course, I had my own refrigerator.

So I had to throw away mine instead of his.

First, I imagined disposing a refrigerator was easy, but it wasn't.

In Japan, the garbage office doesn't deal with refrigerators.

So I had to ask a junk dealer to pick it up.

It cost 7,000 yen(about 70 dollars).

I didn't want to pay money for an usable refrigerator.

But I could change my old refrigerator to a nice one.

So it's OK.

The garbage situation in Japan is both good and bad. Bad when you need to dispose of something big, but good when you want to buy something big that is used. :)

  • I didn't want to pay money for a usable refrigerator. (Many people are taught to always use "an" when the next word begins with a vowel, but the rule should be: use "an" when the next word begins with a vowel sound. In this case, the "u" in "usable" sounds like "y" in "yellow".)

New refrigerator for 7000yen? That's a good deal!
