Advent
Hello,
Today I want to write about Advent season.
This Sunday is the first Advent, so Christman time is starting. Till Christmas Eve there are four Sundays (So mostly the first Advent is already in November)
We have a self made Advent wreath with four candles at home and every Sunday we light one more.
Futhermore we burn incense cones with Christmas smells in inscence smokers (see the picture)
And on first Advent (or December the first) we start with eating Christmas baking. On the first December the children also become an Advent calendar with one door for every day till Christmas Eve. Some Advent Calndars are filled with chocolate some with little toys or Christmas-like pictures.
Also very popular are Christmas markets. The last the whole Christmas time or just a few days. On those markets you can buy thnigs like Christmas decoration, little presents like candles, soap, jewellery but also clothes and much to eat and hot whine punch. Mainly in the evening when there is a wonderful lighting and it's cold (maybe even snowing) it very enjoyable to walk throught the little, feastful decorated huts.
Do you also know Advent season? Do you have similar traditions or totally different? I'd really like to read about it!!
(On the second picture you can see the Christmas market from my hometown. With 170 huts it's quite big and last for the whole Advent season.)
