Hi, :) I recommend you not to use google translator because it does not work well.
' I don't know how to write Korean yet so I'm using Google translator'
' It would take few years for reading Korean'
'I'm really interested in Korean because I think it as an art'

That's only I understand. :) If you want to know about Korean word, just let me know in English. I will write in Korean. We can start with words not sentences.

I don't know if you already know words that related to family.

엄마[um-ma] = mother
아빠[ah-bba] = father
남편 [nahm-pyun] = husband
딸[ddahl] = daughter

나는 남편과 딸이 있습니다.
= I have a husband and a daughter.

I think you need to construct sentences without translator. Making a lot of mistakes helps you improve your Korean. And.. I hope so . I hope you'll continue to learn Korean. It so fun!!! Have a happy day ^_^

kamsa for your help! I think I should stay away from the google translator, unless I am desperate. I can't write Korean. *laugh* But I really want to be fluent some day. Korean is hard because I don't understand how to put the sentences together. In English, we construct sentences like this:
Subject Verb Conjunction Subject.
The cow jumped the fence.
Where cow in this sentence is the subject, jumped is the verb, fence is the subject that is having the action performed with it.
Now here is my trouble.
I want to make my own sentences with learned words. How are they put together?
umma keotta ppalli ?? restorang
mom walked quickly to the restaurant.

Hello, Kai Tu. Hm...I think you might have the same problem that I had when I started to learning English. Korean and English have different stuctures, so it is not easy for English speakers to learn Korean and vice versa. Whe I first stated to learn English, the text book which explains the basis grammar of English was really helpful for me. You can also start with a very basic Korean text book to learn more about how to make a sentence in Korean. : ) Anyway, it was very nice meeting you here!

ko ma wo friends! I would love to find a good korean/english dictionary. AND a starter book for korean grammar. If anyone could point me in the right direction that would be great!! I have been looking into finding some books. I hope that my husband will get me a couple for christmas. Trying to write korean is probably a bad idea for me right now. I am learning alot though. I am also slowly introducing words and phrases to my husband.
A little while ago, there was a yard sale at a korean church down by my house. Guess what I found!!! I found a Hanbok! It totally doesn't fit me. BUT it is so beautiful, and I can now create a pattern I can sew my own Hanbok sometime. The ladies were very nice to me, and when I was trying to ask how much it was, she asked another woman in korean. And I was so excited because I understood her, I grabbed her arm and I said, yes, hanbok, yes.. kamsa hamnida. And she laughed at me , and said , "you know korean?" and I said, "anio, just a little" But her smile was so warm, and it was really nice to meet someone so sweet. Especially since I felt like a stupid american. *laugh*
I admire the beauty in this world! And there are many days I wish I had been born somewhere else in the world.
Cho sa mida, keurigo, ko ma wo. I have been so buisy lately. Since my last journal entry things have been chaotic around here. I appreciate each of you!
kamsa!!
