Ramadan 1431

I was thinking Ramadan would start the 8th or the 9th of August, but I was wrong. In my country, it will start tomorrow the 12th . In some other countries, people have already started to fast from today.
This is a sacred month in which we are appealed to fast. That means not only to abstain from eating and drinking, but also from commiting sins. Indeed, in Ramadan, we are particularly required to purify our souls and control our deeds and sayings ; which means to avoid bad ones and do heavily good ones. Because during this blessed month, the impact of every deed is amplified, whether it is good or bad.
I spent today at cleaning home and I'm ready to welcome Ramadan!

Great composition, I have a few questions about Ramadan. Feel free not to answer them but I mean no offense. In the Judeo-Christian faith, purifying one's soul is only possible through God, how do you justify this? How is the amplification of sins/good deeds during Ramadan explained?

I am glad to know that Ramadan requires people to purify their souls and to perform good deeds while avoiding bad actions. Very nice. Thanks for explaining this.

@Mayan:
Thank you for asking. It is your right to ask questions and it is my duty to answer them if I can. There is absolutely no problem:)
For your question about Judeo-Christian faith, I'm sorry my knowledge is limited in this matter and I have no justification.
As for the second one, I'll do my best to explain it:
Actually, Ramadan is a great month and fasting it is one of the five pillars of Islam.
In this month, every year, the doors of heaven are opened while those of hell are closed and the devils are chained.
Besides, there is one night in this month, called ليلة القدر " Laylat al-Qadr", which is great and very blessed.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Laylat_al-Qadr
So, since this month is particularly great, then, everything one does in it will be great. If it's something good, one will be rewarded greatly by Allah. If it's bad, one will be paid greatly too. This is what I mean by amplification.
I'm not very good at explaining religious things and I'm afraid I didn't explain it well to you. There are still a lot of other characteristics of Ramadan. Do not think I said everything about it:)
Thank you for the correction Mayan, it's kind of you.
@rsalc1:
You are welcome:) I'm happy to know you appreciate my explanation! Thanks again for your infinite corrections:D

Good night guys, I should sleep now. Talk to you later:D
