Number 4 is pretty harsh, isn't it? I suppose it is a common thing in Japanese teaching?
I thought making students embarassed or ashamed might make it worse because they won't practice...

Not at all Japanese teachers give students penalty.
but occasionally penalty good effect.
I want to think about giving penaly more :D
