"Aikoa tehdä jotain" is used when you're going to do some action intentionally. Aging up is something that happens even if you don't do anything, so.. For example:

Aion lukea tämän kirjan. (I'm going to read this book.)
Aiotko ostaa sen? (Are you going to buy it?)

You're going to fall if you're not careful.
NOT: Aiot pudota, jos et ole varovainen.
-->Putoat, jos et ole varovainen. (You will fall if you're not careful.)
