When does English become from noise to words in my mind?
I went to a Indian temple with two Americans today. It is a Ganesha Temple along Ceylon Road. There were many Indians praying to a big Indian alter. I found a strange huge box at the entrance of the temple, it looked like a post. I was told that it was not a post but a donation box. In india, when a man become successful, this guy is going to donate a lot of money to a temple. This habit seem to be very common in India, so most temples in India are very rich and these temples supplying poor people with food every day.
I also saw a big sign which was in front of the big alter. The big sigh said "If you donate a lot to a temple, it means you can help poor people, and God will give you more money." I was impressed, because nobody says and does such good things in Japan.
We went to in front of a big statue which is made of stones. The one of American friends talked to me "Hey Tomo, that is a 30 kilogram of GIRL." So, I thought "Where is the skinny girl? why is she so famous here? Is she starved?" in my mind. But I did not ask my friend about it and I pretended to understand what he said. 3 seconds later, somehow I looked up, so there was a big golden ornament on the top of the big statue. So I finally noticed what the Amrican friend said to me.
He said to me "That is 30 kilogram of GOLD."
English is still just noise for me.

When does English change from noise to words in my mind?
There were many Indians praying to a big Indian altar.
In India, when a man becomes successful, he typically donates a lot of money to a temple.
This habit seem to be very common in India, so most temples in India are very rich and these temples supply poor people with food every day.
I also saw a big sign which was in front of the big altar.
The big sign said "If you donate a lot to a temple, it means you're helping poor people, and God will give you more money in return." I was impressed, because nobody says and does such good things in Japan.

Then one of my American friends said to me "Hey Tomo, that is a 30 kilograms of GIRL." So, I thought "Where is the skinny girl?
Why is she so famous here?
Is she starving?" in my mind.
3 seconds later, somehow I looked up, and there was a big golden ornament on the top of the big statue.
So I finally realized what the American my friend said to me.
He said to me "That is 30 kilograms of GOLD."
At the moment, my Japanese vocabulary is only around 3000 words. If what I'm listening to is simple, and if I concentrate, I can understand a lot of it, but if I watch the news or a drama, I can understand words here and there, but fail to recognize a lot of what is being said. I aim to increase my comprehension by increasing my vocabulary.
