Istuin autossani päämäärättömästi ja kuuntelin Rise Againstia. Kuulin tämän lauseen: "We are condemned to fight ourselves if we don't face what we're against." Tykkään paljon koska luulen, että se on oikea. Olin melko yllättynyt, että en koskaan huomannut sitä ennen nyt. Minulla on ollut tämä CD yli vuosia. :] Hehe
Miten sanotaan suomeksi? "Me olemme tuominneet taistella itse, jos emme (face) mitä me olemme vasta."
Ja muistan, että tänään on 11. syyskuuta. Itkin tänä aamuna. Me koskaan unohda. Sota Irakissa oli väärin, mutta me koskaan unohda.
Miten sanotaan suomeksi? "Me olemme tuominneet taistella itse, jos emme (face) mitä me olemme vasta."

Istuin autossani päämäärättömästi (ilman päämäärää) ja kuuntelin Rise Againstia.
Kuulin tämän lauseen: "We are condemned to fight ourselves if we don't face what we're against." Tykkään siitä paljon, koska minusta se on totta.
Olin melko yllättynyt, että en ollut koskaan huomannut sitä ennen kuin nyt.
Minulla on ollut tämä CD jo vuosia (jo monta vuotta jne.).
Miten se sanotaan suomeksi?
Meidät on tuomittu puolustautumaan, jos emme kohtaa vastustajaamme.

Istuin autossani ajaen päämäärättömästi ja kuuntelin Rise Againstia. // istumisella sinänsähän ei ole päämärää, joten minusta päämäärättömyyteen pitäisi liittää jokin toinen verbi, kuten "ajaa". Tietysti voisin sanoa "Ajoin autollani päämäärättömästi", tai "ilman päämäärää" olisi minusta vähintäänkin yhtä hyvä.

Hmm What do I think of the mosque in New York? I hope you don't mind if I reply in English... I am not against building a mosque near the WTC. That is my instinct judgement, that it is not wrong. I am aware of the fear and hate New Yorkers and quite a few Americans may have because, obviously, mosques are a symbol of their concept of evil/terrorism. However, mosques are no inherently evil; there are good and bad people on both sides in churches and mosques, or any side. Right? I think the mosque should be built. People need to do more research, anyway. The people who are building the mosque are not fundamentalists and their center will be open to all faiths. So there should be no resistance towards building that mosque, no matter how close it is to the WTC.
It is the memory that hurts and why people are against it... I believe that fear-mongering politicians are making the issue worse than it is.

En ymmärrää! Is is something about driving? Are you saying that I should write instead, "I was driving aimlessly?" But I wasn't driving. I was parked and just sitting in my car. :o En tiedä, en tiedä. ^^;
I agree with you about the mosque. And isn't it also in a way a friendly gesture?
Sorry for my too difficult sentence in Finnish, with some typo's adding the difficulty:. I thought you were sitting and driving in your car, that's why I wrote:
"istumisella sinänsähän ei ole päämäÄrää," - sitting as itself does not have any aim.
"joten minusta päämäärättömyyteen pitäisi liittää jokin toinen verbi, kuten "ajaa"." So, I think another verb should be attached to aimlessnes, like "ajaa" (drive).
"Tietysti voisit sanoa "Ajoin autollani päämäärättömästi", "
Of course, you could say "I drove my car aimlessly".
tai "ilman päämäärää" olisi minusta vähintäänkin yhtä hyvä."
or "without aim" would be at least as good I think.
I agree with sakavaka "muuten vain" could be a solution, or then:
"Istuin pysäköidyssä autossani muuten vain ja kuuntelin Rise Againstia" ... I sat in my parked car
or
"Minä vain istuin pysäköidyssä autossani ja kuuntelin ..."
I just was sitting in my parked car ...
First I thought to suggest replacing "päämäärättömästi" with "tarkoituksettomasti / ilman tarkoituksia" (unintentionally, without intentions) but am not sure whether it would be any better.
@Sakvaka, I like "muuten vain." I will try to use it next time and hopefully, correctly.
@Timo, your sentences are way too advanced for me, but I will study them. :)
