Today,

at Chiba station,

a foreign couple were in the train for Chosi.

I asked them where they would go because I know that many foreign peple always go to Narita and they can't the train to Narita.

''Narita'' they said.

''This train will not go to Narita''

I said.

but they couldn't understand what I said.

Then,

a man,who could speak English, spoke to them and, they understood what he said and, they got off the train.

I thought they couldn't understand because of my mistake in grammer.

Please tell me why they couldn't understand what I said.

It was nice of you to help the tourists (foreign couple) and tell them that they were on the wrong train. "This train will not go to Narita" is acceptable grammar. Sometimes English-speaking people have a hard time understanding a person who does not sound just like them. Don't get discouraged! Keep practicing!
